York, early dining.
I'm going to a gig in the Barbican in York next Sunday. Where can we get a good meal before hand. It starts at 7.30.
Don't mind what but it needs to be good.
Thanks!

Reporting back.
We arrived in York at about 4pm yesterday with the temperature at 25 degrees. We had dropped the hood on my car just north of Manchester and driven -over the Pennines-can you believe it? without rain -or snow!
It was glorious in York, everyone wearing shorts and in holiday mode. Lots of people in the streets and sitting eating ice-cream and drinking outside pubs. All was well with the world, although I heard one interesting conversation between two women which after several expletives ended with the words " I want a F...... DNA test". The hapless male who had clearly played a big part in this contretemps was nowhere to be seen!
We had booked in the Loch Fyne at 5.15- they wouldn't take 5.30 for some reason and this was rather nice. It is a former ironmongers on the banks of the river - a lovely large and airy building.
I had tempura squid with a chilli dip, then the seafood platter - the one that cost £19.50 not the £58 for two option. Against my better judgement I had the sorbet for pud- a scoop each of raspberry, lemon, and mango and passionfruit.
My husband had the pickled herring followed by the chorizo and monkfish risotto then the Summer fruits with pannacotta. Two espressos and several Fentiman's lemonades and the bill came to £69.
An enjoyable meal in a nice location and it did the trick.
What I can say if anyone was ever in the same position is that there were many restaurants open at that time- either that they had been open since lunchtime or they were opening at 5 or 5.30. These were interesting looking places- an Argentinian steak restaurant,a Thai ,a Goan restaurant. So ample choice.
After a fab concert we set off home and arrived back in Anglesey at 1.30 am.
Thank you all.
