(yet another) Paris Hotel Question..Artus or D'Aubusson
I am going to Paris in October. I am choosing between two hotels, both in comparable locations in St. Germain: The Artus and The D"Aubusson. I have been several times, and I generally like to stay at different hotels each trip.
Last year I stayed at The Artus (for the second time) in a newly renovated room, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the location, and Sanjay, the Concierge, is incredible; though their services are limited (no restaurant or bar, no room service, night and weekend staff are less than tops). I am considering staying at The D"Aubusson, which is 50 Euros more per night, and which I have heard great things about, and probably has a higher level of service than The Artus.
Any thoughts? Is The D'Aubusson worth the extra Euros?
Thank you.
(Additionally I might consider staying in the Marais, though other than the Pavillon De La Reine (which I find nice, but overpriced), I am not aware of nice hotels in the 200-275 Euro range. Any thoughts?).

I've stayed at the Artus. Given only those two options I would definitely choose the D'Aubusson, though I've not stayed there I enjoyed the very pleasant jazz bar last couple trips.
As for the Marais, I don't think you can go wrong with the 3* Caron de Beaumarchais. In fact, this hotel would be my main reason for returning to the Marais again! Though next trip I am eagerly looking forward to my usual 'hood of St Germain des Pres.

Thanks. Caron De Beaumarchais is a great idea. I've tried to stay there before, but it's been full. I'll try it for a night or two on my return to Paris (I'm doing 5 nights, then driving for a few days, then back for two nights.)

I have stayed at both.Between the D'Aubusson and Artus, I would choose the D'Daubusson, but as the previous post suggest, do not get the standard room.
If you were considering paying what the D'Aubusson cost, and are also looking in the Marais, you really must consider Pavillon de la Reine, far and away the best chocie in that neighborhood, and a very special hotel

Thanks for the advice. There is a significant difference in rates between The Artus Standard Room at 230 Euros (incl. breakfast) and The D'Aubusson Superior Room at 350 Euros (no breakfast), which is definitely more than I want to spend. I cannot imagine it is worth 50% more per night. I am planning on staying in a Standard room at The D'Aubusson, which is 50 Euros more per night...Are the Standard Rooms not nice?

Pavillon de la Reine usually is in the 350-400 Euro range. However they do run specials from time to time at 290 Euros. If this is available for your dates, then in my view it is a better choice than D'Aubusson. It is an amazing property
