Yet another Paris apartment question

We are once again on the hunt for an apt in Paris. And before I start getting scolded for not checking on previous threads, YES, I have checked out the forums. Last year we booked with guestservices and would most certainly again except that they only offer full week rentals and our stay is limited to a few days.I have found a unit with alacarte paris apts. The Marais Sevigne. Has anyone stayed here? Also why is there so little Forum or web info on them compared to the other companies?Does anyone know of other apt rental companies that allow daily bookings?

We stayed in VRBO# 31360 for 5 days in Sept.2009. I think 3 days is the shortest stay they book for. The owner was very nice, easy to deal with and the apt. was exactly as described and perfect for the two of us.

Hi Minx, We have booked this apartment for 7 nights at the end August: http://www.vrbo.com/103254
I don't know how the owner would rent out daily as you have to sign a contract for the specific period your require and then pay half up front to secure the rental.
I hope it's as wonderful as it looks!

Minx - vacationinparis allows daily rentals and they have a good reputation on this board from my research.

minx,

As mentioned, vacation in paris rents their apartments for fewer than 7 days, and other agencies rent for a few days as well. Some who want a minimum one week rental may rent for a shorter period if they have a gap between two longer rentals. It doesn't hurt to ask when you find a place you like. I believe also that parisianflat.com rents for less than a week.

You may pay extra to rent for a few days.

I have not stayed with Ala carte Paris, but I emailed with them last fall about a few of their apartments. I think overall the quality and look of the places they have to rent is very high. Probably a little more expensive, but they looked like very nice apartments. They also had a great selection in the Marais which is my favorite place to stay in Paris. The Marais Sevigne looks nice and great location.

Many, if not all, owners will rent for a minimum of three, four or five days, but perhaps not in the highest seasons. Premium apartments often want at least a week.

You will pay a higher daily rate for less than a week. Many advertised prices are the low season, weekly rate divided by 7. That's why your actual quote can seem so much higher. The rates also often escalate with more people beyond two.

And watch for cleaning fees, which can vary widely.

How many days and when are you going?

Agree with macdogmom. I have looked at Ala Carte Paris before. If you search here and check slowtrav, there may be some recommendations for the agency if not for the specific apartment. The Sevigne looks great to me. I have also used Guest Apartment Services and would definitely consider Ala Carte Paris if my budget allowed. I'd email them and see what they have to say.

Sorry, forgot: are you sure Guest Apartment Services only rents for a week or longer? You might email them and see what they say as well.

I think there are two different uses of the term "daily" on this thread -- I don't think the OP expects it to be like a hotel, where you don't even pay until leaving. I think the question is just not a weekly rate, or at least less than a week. Lots of vacation apts rent for less than a week, it isn't hard to find one. However, it is difficult to find one that will only rent for a couple days. I think there is one that rents for only 3 days minimum, but I can't forget who it is. Most require at least 5, though. I don't know any who will rent for two days, except places like Citadines that are "aparthotels".

I've heard of alacarte, their website looks for nice, but I'll admit I don't think I've read as many reviews on their apartments as some others. They haven't been around as long, for one thing. Also, what is on Fodors may not be representative of the universe as some of the readers will only use a couple of the same agencies.

There is tons of information about that place on the web, don't know how you can say there isn't. ALl you do is Google their name and you get pages of hits, much of it seems to be press releases and their marketing person positioning them on various websites and in the media.

Yes Christina, I did google them but I wanted a feedback from Fodorites. I agree Fodors definitely does NOT represent the whole travelling public. But it's always the advice I'm comfortable with.
Guestapartmentservices definitely does not rent for under a week Leely2. I did ask Phillippe and Christophe 'just in case' as we were so pleased with them last trip.
Eurocentric, we are going Mid-May for 3 days on the route South.I am willing to take it for 4 days as it would be super to have a place waiting and available to crash in when that early morning flight touches down.... We're always so pooped.
I am now also considering a lovely little place fabparispad.com Looks, price and availability seem all on target but I am not totally sure of that location. When I google it, although not far from the Marais Sevigne...it looks perhaps a little TOO removed. Can anyone with knowledge of that area help me with this new development? Thanks for all the help so far.

I was hoping to get a response regarding the fabparispad as I will be on the hot seat for a final decision tomorrow. So in case anyone out there is still up and in the know...this apt is on Rue Jean Beausire just off Rue des Tournelles. Still called the Marais area but close to Place de la Bastille. I am worried that it might be just too much out of the way compared to the Marais Sevigne apt on Rue de Sevigne.
HELP!!!

I rented on Rue des Tournelles last May, behind Place des Vosges. I personally don't consider that area in any way far removed and in fact prefer it to the thick of the Marais. Isn't that place is just up the street from Bofinger?

But you should look at Google maps, street view it and see what you think.

Good luck!

I know rue des Tournelles very well as we have good friends who had an apartment on rue des Tournelles. Even though near rue Beaumarche, it still felt like Le Marais though definitely different than the Sevigne part. This specific apartment is much closer to Place de la Bastille, perhaps just a touch too far. However, I'd suggest if you can ask the owners for 1-2 people to talk with, you can gain a better sense. If you prefer to be nearer to Sevigne, there are a couple apartments on rue Elzevir via agencies like http://www.haveninparis though it might be a little outside your price range. We recommend it a lot when our place is booked. There is also a studio I recall on the same street though I've never been inside it. Go to http://www.vrbo.com and type in the street names nearby (eg. Sevigne, Elzevir, Musee Picasso, Pavee, etc.).

OOPS,no decisions left. While I was 'dithering' about the two possibilities, the Fabparis apt was booked by someone else. Boo Hoo!
Now if the Marais Sevigne hasn't already gone too, that's where we'll be. Thanks to everyone.

You could also contact the people from Rentals in Paris (www.rentals-paris.com). The owner is an American named Glenn Cooper. He is excellent and has a number of beautiful apartments in the Marais and the other central locations. We always stay for more than a week, so I'm not sure about shorter stays, but ask him. I'm sure if he has something available he'll work something out for you. His apartments are the nicest we have ever stayed at in Paris and he is a great person to deal with.

You can rent with http://www.1weekflat.com/ for a minimum of 2 nights, perhaps it may help you. We were at the Sainte Anne Studio and we had a great stay.
