I want to get away somewhere restfull and happy at Christmas, and realize that I must book now if we are to get anything good. Does anyone have any good ideas?? We went to Cancun once, it was nice, but pricy and everyone (i mean EVERONE) was out to bilk the tourist. Enjoyed the sun and sand but getting there was a drag. Went on a wobbly old charter plane, and there was no airconditioning or courtesy. please reply
Xmas getaway??

I'm not quite sure how much you are willing to spend, but my husband and I were going to go skiing in Breckenridge for Christmas, but we weren't really sure that was what we wanted to do. We had our travel agent search around for us and now we are going to Italy for a week, for less than skiing in Breckenridge. You might want to check it out. I also recommend Jamaica. There's an all inclusive resort in Ocho Rios called Ciboney that is just amazing. It is owned by Radisson. My husband and I found it increadibly relaxing. They've got everything; including a health spa and many delicious restaurants.
I am also interested in a Christmas get-away in Europe and I'm not sure what the weather will be like over there at that time. I would prefer some place above 65 degrees. I am open to suggestions if anyone has any.
65 degrees is a tall order anywhere in Europe at Christmas time. I guess your best bet is the southern coast of all the Mediterranian countries. I've been to Malta just before christmas and tho its much more pleasant than the UK its not spectacularly warm. The Canarie Islands are fairly reliable in winter (and expensive) but while Spanish are off the north west coast of Africa so not typically european. North Africa is another matter. I went to Tunisia last christmas and it was quite warm and sunny (shirtsleeves all day and light jacket in the evening) until christmas day when a cold breeze took the heat out of the sun.
