Wooden Church/St. Michael's in Prague-How to get there?
I am very interested in visiting the wooden church called St. Michael's in the Petrin Hill area of Prague. This is the church that was brought to Prague from Ukraine. Can anyone tell me how to get to it? I've looked at maps and am just not sure. Does this place get many visitors or will I be all alone on the trails? Thanks!

I don't think there are many visitors there, it's definitely not a top tourist site. I think it's in what is called Kinsky Garden, at least behind it. You'd get off the tram at Kinsky square (Namesti Kinskych), and then just go up the wide path at that entrance to Kinsky Garden. It goes by Kinsky Summer Palace. If you have a map of Prague, you should see a wandering path leading off from that square into the gardens.
Trams 6, 9 and 58 stop at that square, coming over across the bridge near the National Theatre. You should be able to catch one on the main street running in front of the theatre (Narodni). Tram 12 also goes to that square but coming down from Mala Strana along Karmeliska.

I think maybe what I'll do one day is spend the morning at the Prague Castle complex and then the afternoon in the Petrin Hill area and visit St. Michael's and St. Lawrence's churches. Sounds reasonable, yes?

Sure. I think I'd be tired after the castle complex, but you can have lunch somewhere in the area & then walk around Petrin (assuming the weather is nice, etc). I've always wanted to rent an apartment in Mala Strana for a week or two, and walk in the park everyday for excercise!

In case anyone see this and wants more detailed info: I've searched and searched for a great map of Kinsky Garden (Kinskeho Zahrada) because I also want to see St. Michaels. The best map I've seen so far is in the DK Eyewitness Prague book, where there's a two hour walk through Petrin Park and Kinsky Gardens below it, where the church is. The church is down closer to the Summer Palace/Ethnographic Museum than to Petrin where the funicular is. I'm still looking for a really good map; if so, I'll post it.

Here's a good description of the walk, basically the same as the one described in DK: http://www.allpraha.com/d/33683/A_Wa...h_Petrin_Park/
