Winery Tour outside of Florence

Looking for a winery tour / tasting outside of Florence. Plan is to hire a driver and take a tour of the countryside, stop at wineries, stop for lunch etc. We are planning to go alone and make it an all day event. My initial thought is this may cost us around 500USD for the day, does that sound about right? Also, any suggestions on which wineries to go to as well as what towns to see? I think we would like to try and include Siena in the mix.

Thanks,
Dan

Dan--the question you are asking is a very common one. Try using the search function on this forum. There are many discussions and suggestions.
We do our own driving and touring so I can't offer any other help.

Dtorps, I have nearly exactly what you are speaking about arranged for our trip in just a little over a week.

I booked it with Luca at Hills & Roads www.hillsandroads.com

A good number of fodorites had recommended him. He was extremely helpful with customizing an itinerary to meet our requests, and very quick and friendly with his email replies.

Just as a quick overview of our day...

Picked up at hotel in Florence in the a.m.
Stops at a few village, with lunch at one stop
Stops at two wineries with tasting included
Driving through countryside with stops at our request (within reason, of course)
All said and done we are scheduled for about a 12-hour day with Luca and it is right about at that $500USD mark.

Hope that helps

Shane
