Wine tour in Tuscany: Should we go to Dievole's or Castello Vicchiomaggio

I hope someone could give some advice on the better place to spend a couple of hours while in the Chianti area. Does anyone recommend a wine tasting/tour experience at Dievole's or Castello Vicchiomaggio? Unfortunately, I do not have time for both during my upcoming trip next month. If anyone has been both to either, I am open to here you recommendation.

Thanks.

JD

We absolutely recommend Dievole. Beautiful setting and excellent restaurant also. We visited in late 2009 without making any arrangements. We were presented with a tasting plate with our wine tasting and were treated with outstanding genorosity and assistance. Generally we became bored with visiting Chianti producers as we did not see much variation between brands and area. However Dievole was one of a few standouts.

Thanks for the feedback Good_Will. I will take this into consideration. They looked different than the rest via their website...its good to hear your feedback is consistent with my perception.

We loved Dievole. The setting is lovely and the tour interesting. They were very generous with their wines and one of the few we have visited that served something to eat with each wine. Each wine was presented in a different setting - one in a very old chapel.

I also remember that there was accomodation there that also looked rather good. We have had a few bottles of Dievole reds since returning to Australia. I remember providing the names of a few of the Italian wine import stores here in Sydney to the Dievole Team so I guess they were efficient and followed up.

Thanks again for your feedback and input! It looks like I am going to be able to get both places in during my visit--I am looking forward to Dievole!
