Will be visiting Windsor castle on upcoming trip. The castle website states that the castle is busiest in the morning and recommends visiting after 11:30 am. I am assuming this is correct as most of the day tours start at Windsor and then continue to Bath and Stonehenge.
Thoughts on this? Has anyone visited Windsor in the afternoon and found
It less crowded than the morning rush?
Windsor in the afternoon?

We went in the afternoon and spent about an hour waiting on the security line which you go through prior to the ticket line, whether or not you already have pre-booked tickets on hand. Every one goes through the security line and you have to factor that time in when visiting so allow ample time to get there and don't come too late in the day.
Once inside, we spent another 20 minutes or half hour to wait to see the doll house.
I don't know if morning or afternoon makes a difference but the day we visited in the afternoon it was plenty crowded.
Depends on when your upcoming trip is. It is much more crowded there and everywhere after the end of the school year, basically the end of June.

How would they know unless they went back for a second visit at a different time on exactly the same day? Which hardly anyone ever does.
A classic example of a forum like this having less expertise on a subject than the subject's own website. Why would the Castle bother lying about the issue?
