Will rain ruin the trip?
We are scheduled to leave for Italy on Wednesday, October 13 and spend 5 days along the Amalfi coast/Capri and 4 days in Tuscany. In looking at the weather forecasts, it appears to be raining almost every day. I am so disappointed and I am thinking about cancelling the trip and rescheduling for a later time. Has anyone been there when it's raining all the time and did it ruin your time there? Suggestions?

We had bad forecasts when we went to Spain last spring, but it was fine - two rainy days out of 10, with rain predicted every one of the days. Realize that rain predicted for a day doen't mean an all day soaker. You may get an hour or two in late afternoon, which is when it typically seems to rain in Italy. Go!

Oh I would be bummed too but I would not cancel - many times the internet weather info says one thing, then when you get there it turns out to have been incorrect or it isn't so bad after all. There is plenty to do in Florence even if it rains, but the enjoyment of the coast and Capri could definately be dampened (hee hee). Could you make alternative plans for that time? But the scenery along the coast wouldn still be lovely, also not sure how affected the ferry schedule might be to Capri. I think Naples has an excellent museum, that might be an option. Hope it turns out pleasantly for you!

Good weather is never a guarantee, so how could you re-schedule and be sure of sunshine? Go on, have fun!! As previously stated, it probably won't rain all day, every day. When it does rain, take your umbrella and enjoy your day anyway. Remember, when life gives you lemons, drink more limoncello.

We just returned from Italy and Sicily.
It rained for a couple of hours, one day in Sicily. Our solution? We carry those disposable rain ponchos--the kind that are made of thin plastic--like drycleaning bags. We put those on, and kept walking. the rain did not spoil one thing.
It also came a torrential rain in Venice, while we were on a ferry, traveling between Murano and Burano. That day, we wished we had our HEAVY ponchos, instead of the thin ones. But, rain spoil it? No way. GO GO GO

We had 3 days of terribly heavy rain this May while in Tuscany. We still had a great time.
Take good umbrellas for the winds ,but resolve to have a good time no matter what.
From the sites I went to ,it looks like only Thurs. will be a "rainy" day. The others may have some rain and/or showers.
The temperatures looks perfect!
Go shopping, eat well, enjoy!

The weather is something we don't have any control over, so don't let it get you down. I've been to England in December, February and March and have had clear, sunny days; and I've been there in June when they've had heatwaves one year and cold and rainy the next.

We'll be in Europe this November, and the avg.rainfall, avg. temps AND highs and lows are almost identical to the weather in Atlanta, our nearest big city. So no, I wouldn't cancel; from our perspective it will be better to be in rainy Rome than rainy Georgia.
