Wicklow & Glendalough vs. Malahide Castle
We will be visiting Ireland for the first time next month with a group. One day we have the option to choose between tours of Wicklow and Glendalough with a stop at the Glenview Hotel in Delgany for lunch OR Malahide Castle and Howth Head with a stop for lunch at Cruzzo's restaurant. They both sound appealing. Any opinions from those who have been to these places?

Definitely, I would choose Glendalough and surrounds over Malahide. It's a very nice castle, but Glendalough is unique. We even have an enlarged and framed photo of it, or at least one view, on our wall here at home.

Another vote for Glendalough. As someone from Wicklow, I may be slightly biased...but I'm glad everyone else seems to agree with me! If you have time, you could also fit in Powerscourt Gardens & Waterfall on your way to or from Glendalough.

Definately Glendolough if you can only choose one. If you could do both Malahide is lovely on a sunny day and Cruzzos is a restaurants overlooking the pier with the boats Its a pretty town and the food is good. Glendolough is very scenic and lovely for walks.

March 2000 I took my grown son, Kevin, to Glendalough as a surprise visit. Learn a bit about St Kevin and Glendalough history before your visit. Take the time to enjoy it. IT is truly a beautiful part of Ireland.

Sundial,
Here's yet another vote for Glendalough, one of Ireland's great monastic sites. But allow me to offer one very important tip: To fully appreciate the setting and its many historic attractions, get there early (or late in the day) as it is often overrun by tour bus groups and daytrippers making the trip from Dublin.
Best of luck.
