Why You Should Not Use Goldcar Rental

Hi --

99% of the time I post positive recommendations that I bring back from traveling. Here's my first warning:

Don't rent from Goldcar in Spain.

An article on the company from The Guardian: http://www.theguardian.com/money/201...makers-goldcar

From the Lonely Planet Forum:
https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntr...dcar-my-review

From Tripadvisor:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...in_Travel.html

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...t_West_Co.html

I won't bore you with my own story (unless you want it), but I've been home from Majorca a week now and still motivated to take the time to write this post.

The only time I have had a problem with a hire car, it was in Mallorca and with Goldcar.

We had left the car in a crowded car park in Valdamossa, and on return had found the driver's side door mirror shattered. It must have been done with some deliberate impact.

Since the broken mirror made driving difficult, I took the car to the Goldcar premises at Palma airport. They fitted a new mirror glass in 15 minutes, without quibble and without any paperwork.

I can only speak as I found.

Chartley, I do not understand how you can say you "had a problem" with Goldcar when it was a smashed mirror and Goldcar fixed it in 15 minutes. This is certainly not the same as the OP's citations of Goldcar adding on charges of thousands of Pounds to credit cards, etc., etc.
