White noise apps for sleeping

I recently discovered how running the AC fan really helps cut the noise in hotel rooms so I can sleep. And I was starting to worry about a apartment I rented in Rome.

I had previously researched the Marpac machine so just as I was searching to buy a travel size one - and I thought what about an app? Because a machine would be just one more thing to carry and I Travel light.

I jdownloaded three apps: White noise for 1.99, irohm from Marpac for .99, and a free one from sleep pillow.

I think the best one of the three is White Noise for 1.99

I like the AC sound, and brown noise. There are different colors of white noise.

Gosh I love my iPad!

Great idea! I'm curious though, does the light on the iPad also stay on all night? That might be distracting.

It seems to have great reviews on itunes - should have got that one first. But, I was curious about Marpac having read so much about the machine.

I agree about extra sounds - they distract me - I just want white noise. They even have a dripping faucet - my biggest pet peeve!

But....aren't you then starting out your day with a battery depleted device?

I don't think so, I would keep my ipad plugged in and charging through the night.

We upgraded to the $1.99 Sleep Pillow app on our iPad from the free app and it solved our sleeping problems caused by street noise in a city apartment. We left the unit plugged in all night too. There are a variery of noises but white noise worked for us. This app made a huge difference on our last trip.
