While in France, enjoy discounts on restaurants.

There is a new website called la Fourchette where you can book your restaurant table and I noticed some of them offer big discounts (50% on La Dame d'Aquitaine in Dijon for ex)
There are quite a few in Paris also so have a look and save on your bill!
http://www.lafourchette.com/
For Paris http://www.lafourchette.com/w/restau...SC&is_search=1
A bit hard to navigate sometimes but it may be worth it...

It's great, thanks.

Love just looking at a different list of restaurants instead of the tried and true.

Unless MacDonalds or FLUNCH are on the list it will not aid me - but yes thanks to Coco for taking time to post.

No MacDo I'm sorry, but you may search for Michelin rated restaurants, or for a birthday party for ex.
With "Mots clés" keywords at the bottom of the index, you may choose from a list the kind of restaurant you'd like (romantic, wine tasting, garden...)
No need to give credit card details, that is what I like

Wow, wish I were there, Coco; great discounts! Immediately I saw three restaurants where I have dined. I especially liked Au Gourmand on rue Moliere.

Coco, I'm able to figure out most of the site, but am bit puzzled by the "Avis" column in the listings. Is that some sort of rating system? What does the number mean? It does not appear to have any relationship to the number of stars in that column, or the price level in other columns.

OK, as soon as I asked the question I knew I was going to fee stupid for asking it. A simple trip to my dictionary shows that the number indicates number of reviews that star rating is based upon. "Avis" means "review".

Color me dumb ---

hi coco,

thanks for posting this- shame we just got back!

DH will be accusing me of being more of a planner than ever if i start suggesting we use this.

there are worse things to be accused of, i suppose!

That is a fine site, Coco. I especially like the feature that lets you see your choices in a category on a map. Very handy.

Like all similar sites, however, I will take their reviews with a grain of salt. If you notice, the overall rating of almost all of them is very high. I think one should also check with different, perhaps more independent, sites and with Fodor's for other opinions.

Hi Dick! You're right, but I can tell you they ask people who book through their website to rate the restaurant (service, food, cleanliness, noise etc...) What annoys me a little is that DH rated and also wrote a comment but they put the rating only. The best thing is to find restaurants you already know or heard about and take advantage of their discount if any.

Hi coco,
Nice to see your name here. We're off to London next week but will probably be in Paris for a few days so this will come in handy. Say hi to your boys for us!

No such luck, coco -- we'll only be there till mid December. :'( But I'm sure we'll be back in France before long for a longer stay. We've been talking about three weeks or a month in Aix en Provence in a couple of years.
