which site is best to buy tickets?

I will be in Rome for 3 days. The main goal is to see the Colosseum and the Vatican church and was wondering whats the best site to buy these ticket in advance? is it a good idea to go on different days instead of both on the same day?

We bought our tickets for the Colosseum at the official website
http://www.coopculture.it/en/colosseo-e-shop.cfm

It includes entrance to the Forum Romanum - and it's good for 2 days. Since the Forum is next door to the Colosseum we did both on one day. And left the Vatican for the next day.

The Vatican church, i.e. St Peter, does not require tickets.
You just line up at the security checkpoints.
There are a gazillion "tours" available which promise you a faster entrance through their designated group checkpoints.
Can't say if it's worth it, though.

The Vatican Museum does require a ticket, though. And that should be bought in advance to avoid the lines.

Hi Jessica,

Yes, you can very well visit both the places in one day and have enough time to spend at both the sites if you start your day early. The two sites are just 3.5 km apart. But it completely depends on you whether you just want to visit the Colosseum and the Vatican? Or you would also like to see the Roman Forums and Palatine Hill which are just next to the Colosseum. I suggest, don't miss them. You can also do all of this on one day.

For booking tickets online, there are many sites but I recommend these which are the most convenient and the most credible ones - Headout, Coopculture, Tickitaly, Ticketsrome.

From these sites, you can also book combined tours and guided tours. There are many options available. Check the details and book accordingly.

Do not get in the hands of the peddlers.

Coopculture is the official site for the Colosseum, but the ticket purchase through them may roll over to the booking engine they use.
