Which eastern Europe cities should I visit?

In me and my friends plans to travel this summer we are looking at primarily eastern Europe countries and ending up in turkey.

Where does everyone suggest we visit? We want to end up in turkey and have planned on visiting Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria for sure.

We like to party but also want to take in a lot of exciting tourism as well.

Any suggestions from people's past experiences?

Have you abandoned Germany, Hungary and Czech Republic which you list above?

How many weeks will you have for this trip and where are you starting from?

How long are you traveling until Turkey - I presume you are going by train as renting a car in one country and returning it in another can result in very steep drop-off fees - for lots of train info check these informative sites: www.seat61.com - great info on how to score discounted train tickets; www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com - check the latter's free online European Planning & Rail Guide for lots of itinerary suggestions by rail in those countries.

Pretty wide open question as posted - what are your likes - cities - rural areas - seasides - if you have enough time start in say Munich and take the bus over to Prague - to Budapest and thence south towards Turkey via Serbia and Bulgaria.

I'm confused. You are also visiting other countries according to this thread: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ope-summer.cfm

And I second NYTraveler, how long will you and your friends have? That is a LOT of ground to cover between your two posts.

Also, it would help if you advise us what you (AND your travel partners) interests are to provide suggestions.

Sorry for the confusion with the tags. Only just got this- my first post. will be travelling for two months, got a festival in Serbia and montenegro planned and will be going to Bosnia as well.

Possibility of starting in Berlin or Prague too. I guess my question is can anybody offer me information on less obvious countries in eastern Europe From personal experience. We're all aged 20-26, I have had a research but found from travelling with my aussie mates they had a better insight to more specific festivals e.g La tomatina in Valencia. We like to drink and go out but also experience the culture In an exciting way.

Thanks

The tags are major possibilities. Sorry for the confusion, nothing completely set it stone bar Serbia and montenegr.
Any suggestions of certain cities or events happening over the summer would be appreciated. Drinking related or not.
Thanks

We're depressingly "typical" travellers. I want to experience the best nightlife but ultimately the best cultural atmospheratmosphere. Not just a 2 month stag style trip. Sorry it's so vague, I'm just looking for any general suggestions from people who have done a similar trip through south east Europe

going down the Dalmatian coast in summer brings many seaside tyowns that hop - especially with Germans and northern Europeans - like Split, Dubrovnik (one of the most gorgeous old cities in europe) and then to Greece - Athens is cool and work your way by boat thru the Greek Islands - Mykonos is party central in summer for both gays and straights - each island is cool and Greece is much cheaper than northern Europe.

There are in summer boats running up and down the Dalmatian Coast from Rijeka (not far from Venice via Trieste) - some stop at islands like Hvar - birthplace of Marco Polo I believe.

Corfu is a young persons Nirvana - snorkeling, great beaches and non-stop parties in some quarters - from there take a boat to Patras and bus to Athens. In Athens check out the wine festivals that last all summer I believe in nearby Dafne (sp?).

If under 26 check into Eurail Youthpasses - for 2 months if traveling a lot on trains - in most counties hop on any train anytime.

boat to the last Greek island and hop over to Ephesus (site of ancient Troy - wondrous ruins - and take buses up to Istanbul.

well that's one itinerary that will show you neat scenery - lovely old towns and ample chance to party to you drop if you want.

You might consult some good guidebooks at a local library -- most will have lists of festivals.

Rob, click on my ID to read about the Colours festival in Ostrava and beer spas in the beskydy mountains - might be up your street if you are going to be in the Czech republic anyway.

It's the bears and beer baths TR.

Let's Go Europe is a great source on not only cheap accommodations like hostels - giving objective critiques on hundreds but also nightlife from a young 20s point of view ad desire.

I definetly recommend Romania! If you like going camping, could you help me fill in this survey? I am a finalist in a business plan competition and my desire is to establish an eco-friendly camping site in Corbu, Constanta, Romania. Thank you so much, and who knows, maybe you will be our first camper!
