Well Yugoslavia for starters. Then Albania and, I hate to say it, Macedonia. [Although we are planning on attending a 3 week seminar in Skopje in July.] Bosnia would be problematic, especially in the Srpska Republic. As for the other bordering countries, I'd stay away from the border!
I would skip the Blkan area for now. Romania, Bulgaria, Albania,Turkey and even Greece to play it safe.
What about Italy? We're heading to Venice at the end of April, should we be concerned?
High Risk Alert - Athens, Greece - Demonstrations by the Greek communist party and
others have placed US citizens at risk of spontaneous violence. US Government officials,
particularly military service members, are at risk of political assassination by motorcycle
riding gunmen or bombs from the Terrorist group November 17. Increased security
precautions should be taken to raise awareness.
