Which area to stay in when in Rome?

Jump to last reply

We are coming into the port at Civitavecchia on Aug. 15th. I heard about a van that will bring us into Rome. Can anyone help me with which van (bus) to take? We will be there until the 18th and then to the airport (FCO). Suggestions for a hotel? Like everyone else, reasonable (under 130.00) but safe & clean. Looking at Rick Steves suggestions, but unsure of which area to narrow it down to.
We are aware, now, that the 15th is a holiday, Feast of the Assumption. What do we need to know about that? Is it good (something special to see) or bad because places will be closed? Any and all info greatly appreciated!
