Which area of South Kensington London is nicer?

South Kensington tube or Gloucester tube? I am looking at 2 apartments, each are about a block from the tube station. I would like to know which area is nicer in your opinion? Which are has better restaurants in walking distance? Quieter at night, etc. We are not party/bar people, we'll be traveling with a 4 month old baby and we're usually home by 10, dont' do night clubs or the like. So quiet, safe for walking at night, close to grocery stores and good restaurants is what we're looking for.

When I look at Google street view, the Gloucester tube station looks like it's in a physically pretty area, but it also looks quiet residential, whereas the South Kensington tube locaiton has more little shops and cheap eateries. Any thoughts?

Apartment 1, Harrington Court

Apartment 2, Avni Luxury

ALso any thoughts on either of these two apartments would be appreciated. I checked Tripadvisor.com and Harrington Court seems to have more negatives but then Avni has less total reviews so who knows!

THANKS!!

Yes, I noticed they are very close, one is at 1 Harrington and the other at 13 Harrington. HOwever, when I look at the street view photos, one area (Avni) looks markedly nicer, cleaner, more upscale, than the other (Harrington Court). But I've been led astray by Google street view before, so I thought I'd ask. Also the Avni looks like a nicer area but it may not be as convenient as Harrington Court, I'd like to know this too!

So quiet, safe for walking at night, close to grocery stores and good restaurants is what we're looking for.

Again, these two apartments are very close to one another. Both are quiet enough, both are safe walking to at night, both are close to grocery stores, both are close to good restaurants. I suspect your are over-thinking this.

South Kensington in general is a nice area (you don't see the riffraff by Harrod's, you know? Unless you're talking about tourists in white sneakers, heaven forbid). As long as the actual apartments are comparable, I don't think you can go wrong.

If you want someone to tell you what to do, the Harrington Court one is one tube stop closer to the main visitor attractions.

THanks for all of your input. I only ask because I'm not familiar with London and in a lot of the other European cities we've been to, a 5-10 minute walk could make a huge difference in the neighborhood. But I'm getting that it's not the case here, so thanks!

6 of 1 / half dozen of the other.

Essentially no difference at all. One is one stop closer to LHR, the other is one stop closer to Big Ben. same-o same-o
