Where's my damm ticket

Sent my ticket to British airlines for upgrade a month ago. Tomorrow I fly and still no ticket. No one knows who has it, where it was sent, how to get another, etc. Seems like the worst kind of ineptude--and folks told me BA was a good airline, best to go to London. We have talked to 6 different people, all with differnt answers. Do hope they are a little more proficient at flying the plane and landing it in the right airport. We plan to go to the airport tomorrow and stand in line, refusing to budge until we sort out the ticket mess. Someone HAS to be responsible...any comments.

I hope you made copies of the tickets before you sent them off to BA. I also hope that you have some type of receipt showing proof that they were actually received by BA (I'm guessing its NY office). <BR><BR>I don't know where you are in the US, assuming it is the US, but you won't even get near the gate without a ticket, you won't be able to pass by Security. <BR><BR>You're only going to end up at the BA counter for check-in. So, I think that in order to receive the utmost cooperation from BA, you will need to have to have the most pleasant attitude, and I suggest you arrive at the BA counter as early as you possibly can, when there aren't any crowds and the BA staff can assist you. Remember that most of these people are not in management positions, so I suggest that you not get upset with them, because controversy is not going to be pleasant, nor will you get a resolution.<BR><BR>Be prepared that this issue might not be resolved tomorrow. Bring your credit cards and be prepared to purchase full fare tickets, and pray that there are available seats. There is the possibility that this issue won't be resolved until after you return from your trip, either by a full credit or MCO.<BR><BR>If you don't have copies of your tickets, you may well be SOL tomorrow.

Based on what you've written: <BR><BR>"Sent my ticket to British airlines for upgrade a month ago."<BR><BR>its not "British airlines", the name of the airline is BRITISH AIRWAYS.<BR><BR>and, you also said<BR><BR>"... and folks told me BA was a good airline, best to go to London." <BR><BR>It sounds as if you have never flown BA before, so why would you be sending your ticket(s) to BA for an upgrade? I'm surmising that this is a complimentary upgrade or one based on redeeming FF points from another carrier affiliated with BA, but even that is vague, and you wouldn't necessarily have to send your tickets anywhere, as the information would be notated on your folio. You also mention 1 ticket, but later on say "we", which leads me to believe that there is more than 1 ticket involved.<BR><BR>Could you provide more background information? The reason that I am inquiring is that I have a friend that is a sales manager for British Airways, and she might be able to cut out some of the red tape.

Did you consider attempting to resolve this in person BEFORE the day you were scheduled to fly? I suggest you consider an attitude adjustment before you go to the airport...right now it is YOUR problem, and if you expect them to help YOU, I suggest honey and not vinegar, or you will be standing there long after the plane leaves.

Refusing to budge at the airport counter isn't likely to get you what you want, if no one has a record of your tickets or upgrade. If you live in a major city, go to the BA ticket counter immediately, first thing in the morning, to get this straightened out.If not, get on the phone first thing in the morning and stick with whatever agent is assigned you and tell him/her you are planning to fly tomorrow night and MUST get this straightened out.<BR><BR>I'm not much of a pro in the upgrade department, but why did you send your ticket to BA in the first place? Do you need to do that to get an upgrade? And if so, did you not keep a copy of your ticket?

BA's US "corporate office" is based in NYC, however, all of BA's gateways in the US have sales offices, and you just might find someone sympathetic toward your plight that can help you. <BR><BR>However, I suggest that you call BA's toll free number 1-800-AIRWAYS now. Because BA's call centers are in the east and closed at this hour, you will automatically be transferred to BA's UK offices which are open 24 hours, where you might get further assistance. Someone will at least be able to determine if you have seats on the manifest just by checking your name against the flight number/date.<BR><BR>Hoping that you at least have copies of the tickets, someone can complete a lost ticket report, and at least do some research which should get you at least a MCO issued. If I were you, I would be prepared to purchase a full fare ticket tomorrow.<BR><BR>I still don't understand why you would give up your tickets, as that is not necessary in order to get an upgrade, if you are entitled to it. <BR><BR>After what you have gone through, I think this is a good reason to get e-tickets in the future.

Thanks for the response. A little more information from me might help. We purchased two tickets about 6 months agol--since then I have had some physical problems and we decided to upgrade one of them (mine) to business with accumulated points (yes we have flows BA many, many times). We were told to return the ticket for a different one. Did this a month or more ago, and each time we called they told us they reissue tickets according to flight schedule and it would be mailed closer to flight time. Called several times and three days before flight time they told us it had been mailed! When it didn't come, they told us it had been 'called in' (??) because the charges were wrong. Now they tell us they will issue us a ticket at the airport. After all this confusion, I have no reason to expect that we will be one at all. Yes, we have most of the receipts, etc. Unfortunately, don't have a copy of the original ticket we purchasedl---but do have copies of the charges to our charge card. In any case, I am expecting a hassle, which is not the idea. Wanted to get the upgrade to assure that I arrived in Europe in better mental state than surviving 'coach'. Just thought it is interesting how far the service has slipped since 7/11.

Sounds straightforward to me - they will issue the ticket at the airport. Now don't get your knickers in a twist and throw a hissy fit at the airport, or your chances will head waaaaaay south.

Your damm (sic) ticket will be at the desk, where it is supposed to be. If you've flown with them plenty of times, what's with this crud about the 'folks' telling you it was the best to go to London with?<BR><BR>
