Whereafter Bruge?

I'm stopping in Bruges for a day during a July cruise. I've visted Bruges before and was thinking I should see more of Belgium during this day-long visit. Possibly Ghent, Antwerp or Bussels? I'd travel by train. Any suggestions?

Bruges is my favorite city in Belgium and then Brussels is my next choice. The city centre is walking distance from the Midi Station. The square is absolutely beautiful. You can see the peeing boy too. My friend, who lives in Brussels, finds it terribly embarrassing. She took me to see it anyway (he was dressed in a little outfit) and we had a beer and the best cheese sandwich ever at a really cool pub right across the street. It was filled with marionettes.

How about Antwerp? I've not been but my day-by-day "1,000 places to see before you die" calendar that this is one of the most spectacular cathedrals in the world. Have a fun trip!

don't know what your interests are but if you like history, try Ieper (Ypres). It's not far from Brugge and was the center of trench warfare during World War One. Take the 4 hour Flanders Battlefield Tour which will take you into the trenches, underground bunkers, fields, museums, and the church crypt where Hitler was patched up after being wounded. Ieper has an old-world charm as well and is walled & moated near the Menin Gate. Excellent food and beer in the town square as well...

Brussels is worth a day, not sure about Ghent or Antwerp, though I'd imagine they are too. Kind of depends what most interests you.
