Where to stop for great pub fare during drive through Wiltshire?

I'm working on a plan for a 2-3 day drive through Wiltshire at the end of March and wanted to see if folks had suggestions for places to stop for really good pub fare. We'll be leaving from Brighton, heading to Salisbury and Stonehenge for the first part of the trip, from Salisbury to Avebury and Lacock, then on to Bath. Thinking of returning to Brighton from Bath via Stourhead. Any recommendations for places to eat in Salisbury, Avebury, Bath -- or any point along the way? Meandering off the beaten track would be more than welcome!

Just beginning to look at possible places to stay overnight as well -- if there are any favorites to recommend, please do! Will likely stay one night in Salisbury, and 1-2 nights in Bath. We prefer small hotels/b&bs, but need a room for 3.

Thanks!

I can't recommend any lace in particular, but I always carry a copy of Alistair Sawday's "Pubs & Inns of England & Wales" in my car for when I'm in unfamiliar territory. It's a great way to find unique and foodie pubs. http://www.sawdays.co.uk/bookshop/britain/pub/

Alistair Sawday might also be a useful source for your B&B needs.

the pub which is inside the grounds at Stourhead is pretty good - we enjoyed a very nice lunch there at the end of our walk around the property.

and if you are planning on visiting other National Trust properties, they tend to have good restaurants and cafes which often serve regional specialities.

and i can endorse Mr. Sawdays - the recommendations seem to be quite reliable.

I gave the 2013 edition of the Good Pub Guide to friends in England who are veteran pub-crawlers. They were pleased. It is easily available on-line; I used Amazon to have it delivered in the UK. Note that it appears to be updated annually.

My CAMRA guide recommends The Red Lion, Cricklade:
