Where to stay near Loire castles?

We will be in the Loire for 2 nights during late July this year and are looking for a place to stay in the area around Chenonceau or Chambord or within a 30 minute drive. Ideally with a pool but will consider something without. As it will be my birthday it would be nice to stay in a chateau or a nice B & B. Our budget is around 100 euro per night or less. I realise a lot of the chateaus are more than this but hopefully we can find one in this price range. Prefer to be in the countryside or within a village or small town. Have been looking on the internet and have found a couple but they are further away than we would like. Any ideas appreciated - thanks!

I'm not aware of any chateaux in that price range. We stayed at a lovely one near Chinon several years ago - but the price now is up to 200+ euros - and that is not a deluxe resort type.

You might find a B&B with a pool - not sure.

And 30 minutes form the chateaux is a fairly short distance since they are in deep countryside on very minor roads - with a speed limit of 30 or 35mph.

Sorry - I would check out B&Bs within 20 miles of the chateaux you want to see.

For a nice B&B, you could also take a look at La Pillebourdiere in the small village of Oisly, very conveniently located between Chenonceau and Chambord. The owners are bilingual too. Their website is www.lapillebourdiere.fr/

Check out the Domaine de Mestré. They are a very old property from the 1200s I think and they have a lovely old soap factory, lovely restaurant and spa services. Check out their neighbours the Château du Petit Thouars a family winery if you get there. We feel in love with this place! Such nice welcome, great wines and history.
