Where to stay near Giant's Causeway?
We are planning to travel to the Giant's Causeway from Galway, leaving August 15. Should we try to do it one day? What is a good half way point? Any tips for a good B & B? What else is a must see area and on the way there? Glass Queen

That would be a long drive, but you can check by using aaroadwatch.ie. They will tell you a driving time, but my advise is to add 25% to the total of driving time. That's what we found when we used their directions and times two weeks ago. You might want to go to Derry. It is an interesting small city not far from the Giant's causeway.
We did not go to the Ulster American folk park because we had just been at the Ulster folkpark near Belfast, but others have highly recommended it and that would be on a driving route between Galway and the Giant's Causeway. We were actually a bit disappointed by the Giant's Causeway. It is very pretty, but we expected something much more stunning. However we didn't take any hikes, we just walked down to where the shuttle route goes. Maybe if you walk farther it si more stunning, or maybe our expectations were just too high.

Hi Glass,
Galway to Giants Causeway is a lot in 1 day (IMO) I would stay in Donegal town for one night and see some of the area, then go to the Giants Causeway the following day. Alternativly, you could go via Sligo and Enniskillen and as the previous poster suggested visit the U/A folk park in Omagh. I would then suggest that you stay in Enniskillen overnigh (this will be a longer route but very scenic)
When in the Giants Causeway area visit Bushmills (the hotel there is excelent and the brewery visit is a must), the Glens of Antrim and the villages - Cushendun, Cuahendall & Glenarm.
Enjoy your stay

it's a long drive for one day, but doable.
The Causeway is amazing, and you need to take some time to walk around on it. Just be careful near the edges.
Also stop at Dunluce Castle, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, and the Bushmills Distillery.
The Bushmills Inn is a great hotel. I've stayed there twice and love it. But it's not inexpensive. The rates are posted on their website. I think it's www.bushmillsinn.com or www.bushmillsinn.co.uk
Derry city is worth a visit. Excellent tours of the city and its walls start from the tourist centre.
