Hi

I went to Florence last summer and here is my trip report with pictures http://gardkarlsen.com/florence_italy_travelogue.htm . Check out the Google map that I have made http://gardkarlsen.com/Florence_Italy_google_map.htm . It shows the location of some of the attractions and you can click on the markers for more info I hope that you can find some useful info there.

We also went to Tuscany and we ended up staying right outside Castellina in Chianti and that was very nice. It was beautiful and quiet. Here is the Tuscany trip report http://gardkarlsen.com/tuscany_italy_travelogue.htm . Get in touch if you have any questions or comments...and have a great trip

Regards
Gard

Hi Mcottingham,

here is a list of accommodation in Florence you can watch their pictures and Google Maps where's located from the request form you'll write direct to each owner

http://www.allhome.eu/lodgings_EN-Fi...d-breakfast_28

Some of the best are:

La Martellina is an ancient mill on the Arno dating back to the 13th century and still intact in its charm

The dyers' house Newly born in Florence, the Casa dei Tintori is a refined and quiet Italian residence freshly restored after an accurate intervention, to offer lovers of Medieval Florence a gorgeous holiday in the true spirit of warm and friendly Italian Bed and Breakfast hospitality.

I hope for you and your family a very nice travel in Florence.

Mauro

We loved Montepulciano and stayed in an apartment. We got it through the owner who we know personally but it's also listed on vrbo.

Take a look at Palazzina Cesira in Montalcino. It's a very nice little place in the center of Montalcino that has about 5 rooms and they're all nice. Breakfasts are very good and the owners are on and take excellent care of you.

Montalcino is a great little town with commanding views over the countryside. It's easy to get in/out of and it's easy to get to Pienza, Cortona, San Quirico, etc.

Hi, my mother, sister and I stayed for three nights at Terre di Nano near Monticchiello. Lovely olive and vineyard setting with apartments as well as a B&B, option for breakfast, pool, well-equipped kitchen and just the perfect spot to appreciate that we REALLY were in Tuscany. It also had us in position to use Stu Dudley's driving tour of he Val D'Orcia - the best part of our trip!
