Where to stay in southern France

Jump to last reply

My husband and I will be traveling to Italy, France and ending in Barcelona in Oct. 2016, for 3 weeks. We currently have all of our reservations made except for the 4 nights we will be in Southern France. 2/3 the way through our trip, we will be leaving from a small town, Embrun, close to the Italian border. Any suggestions for a good place to spend the other 4 nights in southern France that we could make interesting day trips from? We are in our late sixties, have driven in Europe before and are not looking for any big cities, but rather smaller, hopefully with parking close to the hotel. I would also like it to be within approx. no more than 4 hours from Barcelona, Spain, as that will be the final stop of our trip. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!
