Where to stay in Reykjavik

My wife and I are doing a 2 night stopover in Reykjavik.
I am looking for a place to stay for under $150 a night.
We would like an private bathroom.
I have seen 2
4th Floor Hotel and Downtown Reykjavík Apartments.

Any suggestions on these or any other nice places to stay would be appreciated.

We've stayed twice at the Hotel Frøn, but I think maybe we lucked out both times with the price (50€ a night). It's a lovely hotel though, right in the center of town.

Also stayed at Hotel Frøn. Don't remember the price, wasn't that low but it was a good deal compared to everything else and the hotel was nice. I'd stay there again.

I have used these forums for many trips to Europe and have found the advice received to be very useful and informative. I have a one day stay over in Reykjavik and I have been surprised how expensive a hotel stay can be. It is almost like New York City. I will continue to research hotels and I see that Icelandic Air has several 'branded' hotels in the city. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

We stayed at the 4thFloor Hotel just over a year ago. The room was well kept, clean and very large. We liked the location as it was a short walk to the heart of town. We did hear street noise from our room though. Thankfully there weren't bars around there with loud drunk people but we could hear more noise than we would have preferred. It wasn't so bad that I would not recommend it, but just wanted to give the full picture. The included breakfast was at the little restaurant next door and was a decent little buffet.

Thanks. After reading the replies, I checked Trip Advisor for some reviews and they had a good rate including breakfast for the Hotel Fron, so I booked it. Thanks again.
