Right now, that's about 111 euro.

You can find a lot of places in your price range. Do a search here for Paris hotels and you'll find tons. Lower costs than this have been discussed here recently.

What month are you planning to travel? I ask because in winter I wouldn't bother searching for a hotel with AC. Those without often fall into the less expensive categories.

If I were going in summer, I would want air conditioning.

But, sometimes in August, off-season for Paris, hotels can have bargains.

And, if you're comfortable with the idea, Paris is loaded with well-priced short term vacation apartments.

That said, I usually don't recommend that first time visitors stay in apartments. It all depends on your sense of adventure and your comfort level with a new country/city.

Hi al,

In Paris, we always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. From 103E sngl. It is just around the corner from Place St. Sulpice, near 3 metro stops and 4 bus routes. Has AC and an elevator.

The staff speaks English well, and is very helpful. The front desk is staffed 24/7

They can arrange a shuttle pickup to/from CDG for you.

Tel 33 1 43 26 97 37

For more info, enter "Hotel Bonaparte" in the "search the forum" box.

Enjoy your visit

artlinda,

i have just been organising a trip to Paris in March '12 [a birthday present for DH, so please don't tell him!] and i went through the usual Trip advisor/google thing. in the end I have settled for the hotel europe St. Severin - this is how I chose it:

it gets good reviews on TA AND the usual hotel booking sites,

it's in our price range - €117/night for 3 nights or more on the hotel's own website which is miles cheaper than booking.com or any of the others, and with the same free cancellation terms that they offer, and

it's in the right place ie within walking distance of an RER B station, which is important for us as not only will be flying into and out of CDG, but also [hopefully] going to the France v England rugby match at the Stade de France which is also on the RER B line.

I toyed with the Hotel Britannique again [it is lovely and very conveniently placed in the 1st] but it is almost €100/night dearer, and getting out of the RER B station at Chatelet is a nightmare.

in the end, although your priorities may be in a different order, they generally come down to the same three - price, location, and reviews.

good luck!

For that price you can stay in many different areas: not too central, but good, interesting and safe locations. Here are a few suggestions in your budget:
Hotel Lautrec at the Opera http://paris-hotel-lautrec.com/
Hotel du Palais Bourbon, at the Invalides (relatively close to the Eiffel Tower) http://bourbon-paris-hotel.com/
Hotel Damremont in the back-streets of Montmartre http://damremont-paris-hotel.com/
Astruc Elysees a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe http://www.astrucelyseesparishotel.com/
Rates depend on season and other things, but they should have rooms for around 111 euro I believe.
