Where To Stay In Limerick?

Good Morning,
First Time Posting
Been given a 7 night trip by our children in September.
1st Night Dublin-reservation made
2nd Night Kilkenny-reservation made
Looking to stay in Limerick County but suggestions are welcome for 2 nights before heading to Galway and then to Sligo.
Thinking of Adare? Want to experience both the beauty of Ireland and it's people.
Goal is to find a location to take day trips from before heading to Galway?
Thanks so much.

If you want to make a day trips to the SW (Dingle, Killarney, maybe even Ring of Kerry or Beara), Adare would make a somewhat decent home base. But if these were your destinations, I'd probably go even a bit further SW, e.g. to Killarney. Adare is a cute but also a bit small village.

OTOH, you could also use Ennis - in Co. Clare already - as an excellent base to explore that county. But the usual destinations like the Cliffs of Moher are also as easily to access from Galway city (assuming that you meant the city, and not somewhere in Co. Galway).

Maybe it will be easier to offer ideas if you listed a few of the sights or places in the SW or West which you would like to see.

Thanks for the quick answer. To be honest, I am a bit overwhelmed, never done this type of trip. So much to see and so little time.
I had wanted to drive part of the ROK and the Dingle area but I don't know if I can fit both in. I feel I can see the Cliffs of Moher from Galway City.
I was thinking of Kinsale but it seems as if it would be a very long drive from Kilkenny. I am trying to avoid an extremely long drive on that 3rd day, maybe someplace I could stay for 2 days before Galway City.
I really appreciate the help.

You only have 7 (that's Seven) nights. Ireland looks small on a map but it's a lot bigger on the ground..
Your first 2 nights and your last night are accounted for..so you have only 4 nights for your wish list.

Nowhere in Ireland is unique as a whole, a fishing port is a fishing port although most now fish for tourists rather than fish..Kinsale and Dingle being prime examples (the latter becoming an old hand)

Is there a reason for Sligo? if not scrub that and aim back to Dublin after 2 nights in Galway.

So down to 2 nights and Your Personal wish list..Adare or Ennis as the outer markers..consider

Adare as the first option. and Dingle would be a possible day trip then the Clare coast for 1/2 mile of Ciliff and a Moonscape on the way to Galway.

Ennis I would suggest either Loop Head in south west Clare or just because I live over here and get few visitors East Clare and Lough Derg area then west Clare as above up to Galway.

The day between the 2 Galway nights could be Inis Mor or a Connamara loop. I always opt for the second but maybe decide how the weather guides you.

Call into Clonmacnoise or Lockes Distillery or Belvadere House on the way across to a Dublin airport Hotel your last night.

Adare Mannor is lovely for afternoon tea or an Irish coffee but is a very easy trip from limerick city for an afternoon , expensive to stay but maybe worth it for a treat! Adare itself is a very small village but very pretty. Kerry is very scenic also you could maybe do Adare as day trip on the way there, then you could see Dingle which is worth the (long) trip!
Have you been to Dublin before?

Thank you for the suggestions. Would have written sooner but I was at work.
I have the first two nights covered and the the seventh night we have a room at the Ritz Carlton in Powerscourt before we fly out of Dublin on the 16th.
To answer Tony's question, my husband's family came over to the US from Sligo so he was interested in going there but maybe we could take that off the list.
Instead of Adare as a base, maybe it would be a good idea to drive West to Cork or Killarney or Cork and use that as a base to see the West Coast before heading up to Galway?
PLEASE I can use all the advice I can get, I really appreciate all of the input. Thank you.

Killarney to Galway is a long drive with many options in between. Cork to Galway is even further. I cut short the Sligo link as it might have been putting in too many options and too much distance without slipping into a road trip.

Powerscourt is as far south of Dublin as the airport is north so I might be tempted to reverse the route.. Aim for Sligo on night 3, come down through Connemara to Galway for nights 4 & 5 then Night 6 somewhere like Cahir/Cashel before going to Powerscourt via Kilkenny.

Boy, you are amazing at trying to help all of us on here who are coming to visit. My problem is I have booked some B & B's.
I have a spot in Galway for the third to last night and a spot in Sligo for the second to last which I may cancel and stay 2 nights in Galway and then on to Powerscourt.
What I think I need is somewhere in the South/Southwest in County Cork or County Kerry before I go to Galway where I might be able to stay 2 nights.
Thank you very much.

So... night 1&2 Dublin..
Night 5 Galway
Night 6 Sligo
Night 7 Powrscourt.

Day 3 drive down the M8 call into Cashel and Cahir ending the night in Blarney. evening trip to see Kinsale
Day 4 From Blarney to Killarney, check out Muckross the National park and Gap of Dunaloe.
Day 5 drive up towards Galway, Call into Listowel or Adare then Bunratty and late lunch Ennis (Brogans) Off to the coast and past the Cliffs of Moher, round Black Head for the Burren Moonscape ending with a night out in Galway.
Day 6 the N59 into and Through the Connemara, Kylemore Abbey taking the Famine road through Doonlough and Louisburgh to Westport ending in Sligo (full day)
Day 7 from Sligo via Boyle and Belvedere House (Mullingar) to Powerscourt.

I really think that is too much but it's your vacation.. If dates can be turned round then I would seriously consider a rethink.

Can you re arrange the Powerscourt night so that you stay there night 1 rather than night 7??

Day 2 drive over Wicklow and Glendalogh to Kilkenny (nice easy day)

Day 3 Cashel, Cahir, Killarney for the night

Day 4 drive from Killarney round the Dingle peninsula ending in Ennis.

Day 5 The Clare coast, Cliffs and Burren perhaps even an Inis Oirr/Cliffs Combi cruise. night in Galway

Day 6 either to Sligo (as day 5 above) or to Dublin.

Last night at an Airport hotel for ease of departure.

Good Morning,
I don't think I can change Powerscourt, part of the present from our sons and that night was paid for using hotel points.
I really appreciate all the time you have spent answering me, what a great service you are doing.
Any other lodging suggestions in Killarney, heard back from Sunnybank and they are booked unfortunately.
Thank you.

Try the Eviston Hotel, http://www.evistonhouse.com/ a Best Western hotel (look at a mid range "superior" room). Kingfisher Lodge is a little bit further out from the centre. http://www.kingfisherlodgekillarney.com/

As T2P wrote, it will be a busy trip with lots of driving, no matter how you shuffle the overnight stays if the general routing stays the same.
Maybe a few details can be re-arranged, e.g. on day 3.
I would not stay in Blarney and make an evening trip to Kinsale and back to Blarney. But end the day in Kinsale (maybe visit Blarney if still open at that time you go past) and start the route along the West Cork coast from there next morning.
Not only do you save the backtracking to Blarney, but more important the morning rushhour on the Cork South Ring Road towards N71. Which can be a pest.
Starting from Kinsale on day 3 will have you avoid Cork and hit N71 near Clonakilty.

I haven't actually stayed there as our plans changed but I was interested in Ross Castle Lodge just out of Killarney. http://rosscastlebnb.com .
