I stayed at the Art Hotel in the spring of 2000. It was a funky hotel with an emphasis on modern art & design in the rooms. Its near the city center and a great location. Unfortunately it was hit with the flooding this past year and is closed until the end of this year. If you arent going until next year it should be opened. Even if you want a triple it should be within your price range. Heres a website that references it.

http://www.lodging-germany.com/dresden/artotel.htm

Hopefully youll have a bit of time in Dresden and be able to see some of the museums in the Zwinger. Tour the opera house if you can, or better yet try to see a performance if there is one on the night you stay there.
We had dinner at the Art Hotel while in Dresden in August, just ahead of the floods. It looked like a lot of fun. We stayed at the Von Bulow, a Relais & Chateaux hotel that was just wonderful. We had gotten a special offer on a deluxe junior suite at around $250. Wouldn't hurt to check as might have some accommodations close to $150

I second the previous suggestions.

Hotel Bulow Residenz is probably the best hotel in Dresden with one of the best, but very pricey restaurants in East Germany.

art'otel is a sort of designer hotel, very modern style. Probably not everybody's taste, though.

If you'd like to spend less than 150 USD, there is a very good three star hotel near the Hotel Bulow Residenz. Its name is Martha Hospiz. Very good service, friendly staff, elegantly decorated, central but quiet location. Definitely the best price/value relation.

Enjoy your stay!

Ingo

Hi!
We stayed at a lovely small hotel just outside of Dresden in the town of Pesterwitz, and the hotel is called "Pesterwitzer Siegel". It was very nice and VERY reasonable. If you have a car - it's a 10 minute drive downtown, and there is also a bus line.
