May be Como, otherwise Milan.

I think Como is the only town where you'll find any sort of night life. In Bellaggio and Varenna, the two most popular towns, they roll up the sidewalks at 8 PM. I've never stayed in Como, but it is the biggest town on the lake, and I presume there must be some people under age 50 living there.

I'm with bvlenci but would suggest Bellagio over Varenna for more nightlife.

If you 'google' nightlife on Lake Como, you will find some names of clubs. Because of the ferry, it isn't difficult to get around the lake.

Double-check that things are open in March when you start booking.

Nightlife in Bellagio? The only thing we heard after supper was crickets. Until about 1 AM, when a bunch of motorcycles began roaring up and down the hills.

Here is a page about "night life" on Lake Como.

http://www.discovercomo.com/lake-como-nightlife

If you read it, you'll see that the recommendations are more suited to the sedate middle-aged crowd, not a group in their 20s (unless these are very adult and sophisticated young people). They suggest hanging out in the restaurants, a bar that has a private library, candlelight cruises, and things of the like. They also mention casinos, but say they're mostly on Lake Lugano, in Switzerland.

Maybe Lake Lugano would be a better destination for your group.
