Where to stay in Alacati?
Our May trip to Turkey is shaping up. We have accomodations at the Hotel Dersaadet in Istanbul, the Serinn Hotel in Urgup and Hotel Bella in Ephesus area
We are going to rent a car when we leave Ephesus and have 3 nights to spend in the Aegean coast. We have identified Alacati as a good place to stay--we can do a little beach, a little site seeing etc.
Are there any recommendations about a nice b&b, hotel, etc. to stay at? Price range up to $150--

Are you sure you wish to stay at Alacati?
The area is composed of three separate resorts, Cesme, middle class authentic Turkish with shopping, some sandy beaches, somewhat windy; Ilica, good sandy beaches, more upscale, with some expensive boutique and large hotels including a Sheraton, warmer and less windy ; Alacati, More upscale, restored old Greek village inland, small tasteful boutique hotels in village, good restaurants, expensive, a major windsurf region with cold and windy lagoon, would be almost impossible to swim in May, nice street market.
I would check www.smallhotelsofturkey.net and then find their telephones or mail addresses and call them or e-mail them directly.
Many of them will be above your price range, however, the pre-season prices in May could can be discounted and you could negotiate.
They are usually managed by retired artists and intellectuals and you may find the hotels and the location quite interesting, although far from antique sites except for Seferihisar, Teos and Cesme castle.

Thanks for the info. We do not have our hearts set on Alacati--we are just looking for somewhere in this area to stay. Do you think that Ilica is a better choice given that it is warmer and less windy? Please let me know if you have other suggestions as well.

Ilica and Alacati are just next to each other, 15 minutes driving distance. staying at ilica will place you on the beach which will be cold in May anyway. However, you can get reasonable accommodation for a better price in Ilica.
the whole area is pleasant for chilling out as long as you have a rental car.
You may even take a day trip to the Greek island Chios from Cesme, or visit Sardis which is just over two hours drive inland past izmir but totally on motorway and divided highway.

I will definitely check out Ilica--if the weather turns out to be nicer than expected, the beach is there. If not, there are other things to do. You are a wealth of information otherchelebi. Thank you.
