Hi Guys,
We are going to Switzerland in May this year and are looking to go up Jungfrau. We are deciding whether to stay in Interlaken or Bern as we are only spending 2 nights and then heading to Paris.
I am looking for suggestions for a nice hotel as it is part of our honeymoon but we don't want to spend to much. If anyone can suggest hotels that are clean and the staff are helpful but it is close to trains/transport it would be greatly appreciated.

Well with the short time you have available I would stay in Interlaken or one of the villages such as Lauterbrunnen, Wengen or Grindelwald. Staying in Berne is just adding an hour to your tavelling time. Be prepared as well to change your plans if the weather is not good enough to permit a clear view from Jungfraujoch. You can check this from the local TV station or what could be worse case scenario at Interlaken Ost or other stations before you buy your ticket
More than 99 per cent of all Swiss hotels are clean and rather expensive.
The Jungfrau railway is the most expensive mountain railway in Switzerland. The access to other places showing similar mountain panoramas is cheaper. Check Zermatt - Gornergrat, Zermatt - Kleinmtterhorn (Matterhorn Paradise), Alagna - Punta Indren, Chamonix - Aiguille du Midi.
Wherever you go, check the weather forecast before leaving. A train ride from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch and back (200 USD round trip) would be a complete waste of time and money if the weather is really bad: you would see nothing than fog and freeze in temperatures below 20 degrees Fahrenheit (-5 degrees centigade).
Start early in the morning: there are often more clouds in the afternoon. Sleep therefore as close as possible to the mountains; Interlaken is better than Berne, Grindelwald would be even better.
Direct TGV from Interlaken dp 6.09 to Paris ar 12.11 every Saturday and Sunday, other days from Berne only.
Hopefully you'll have several days as we had to wait until the Jungfrau was cloud free to go.
We spent those days visiting other villages and and Lakes Brienz and Thun.
Agree - in June we had to wait until the 3rd day to get a day that was clear at the top - the valleys were beautiful and sunny - but the mountaintops are in the clouds and have totally different weather.
Also - be prepared for the lowering temps as you ascend. And if you have any breathing problems or smoke/ever have - consider if this is the right trip for you. A mature couple who came up in the train with us had to go right back down - since they couldn't catch their breath at the top (my guess is they were smokers).
