Where to stay CHEAP- Italy (florence, venice, rome)
Need some help!
2 of my friends and I are planning a trip to Italy in early March. We are planning on Rome, Venice, and Florence...We are all 25 yrs. We would like to stay near attractions and more importantly nightlife and looking to spend less than $75 per night per room. Nothing too fancy, a bathroom, and clean is all we ask with room for 3. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My 21 year old daughter has been living there for the past 5 months and staying all over inexpensively in youth hostals. Check out europeanhostels.com, hostelworld.com, hostelbookers.com, and hostelplanet.com. Lots of places within your budget. You'll have a great time!

OK- that's 60 euro for a triple room with a private bath in a central location near attractions and nightlife? That's going to be VERY tough to find in the 3 cities you mention, quite honestly. Even youth hostels get ~25 euro for a bunk in a dorm with shared toilets and showers.
You might read/post over on www.lonelyplanet.com and their bulletin board called The Thorn Tree. There are lots of backpackers and shoe string travelers there who can better let you know if your budget is realistic.

You won't get a triple room at a dorm for that price. Figure that the hostel dorm beds will cost 20 to 25 Euros each. So even your $75 USD is on the optimistic side, and that will give you three spaces in a dorm, not a private room.

In advance is a good idea, because the nicest hostels, with best facilities and locations are very popular. Especially when you mention such popular Italian cities.
Some people do wait and book the next hostel from the one they are staying at. I believe some are set up to do this online somehow.
Truly check over on Thorn Tree. Those folks are doing it (while Fodors certainly has lots of wonderful posters and experiences it's more likely we're telling what our kids have done, not been there ourselves recently). kindly, s.

Hi
This is a challenge!
Florence: B&B Peterson - http://www.bedinflorence.it
Rome: Albergo Lucia - http://www.hotel-lucia.com or Maria Hostel - http://www.mariahostel.com. This is a bit more but has use of a kitchen so you save on dining out.
Venice: Now this is tough. Have you thought about renting an apartment. here's a couple close to your budget. Again your own cooking facilities means you save money. http://www.renthomeinvenice.com
http://www.villarama.com/3276.html
Hope this helps.
