Where to stay between Mont-Saint Michel and Paris?

I'm looking for a nice hotel or B&B somewhere between Mont St. Michel and Paris. I have a mid-day flight and would like to avoid driving more than 2-3 hours to airport. However, I'd like my last night in France to be memorable. Thanks in advance.

Auvers-sur-Oise, where Van Gogh and other Impressionists like Cezanne holed up whilst putting the village's scenese on canvass could fill your bill - not far at all from CDG airport - on the Oise River - reproductions of Van Gogh and others paintings have been erected right at the spot the masters originally executed them - including in the Cornfields where Van Gogh's last paintings were done, with a brooding sky and black crows - just before he shot himself and died in the Auberge Ravoux, where today you can still see the room he died in.

The city of Rouen would meet your criteria of 2-3 hours away. It's about 2 hours to CDG. We found it easy to drive in this city. Lots of history and a lovely, remaining old town. Richard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rouen

Giverny, home to Monet's House and Garden, is another well positioned cute village not too far from CDG

This is a thought. We had a large room, with a huge 'hot tub'. The chateau is about 1 1/2 hours from CDG. The restaurant was not serving the night we stayed, as they had a wedding for 400 people, a French Officer. Could be 'memorable'. Richard www.chateauvilliers.com/
