Where to sleep Luxembourg City ?

My small family (2 adults ans 2 kids of 4 and 8 years old) are gonna be in Luxembourg city august 3 for one night. We want to know where we should sleep. The hotels in center are a bit more expensive but allows us to stay without using public transport. There,s hotel that seem good but a bir farther (JFK avenue). We have to catch a flight at 10 am august 4 . On august 3 we will arrive from Trier.

Good deals seems a bit hard to find but the Novotel luxembourg centre seems ok. I just dont know if its location is good. we also have to figure how to the airport from there.

About the airport, how many time in advance should we get there ? Our flight is Luxembourg-Zurich

Within Europe, I try to get there about 2 hours ahead of time.

There are several Novotels, is the one Novotel Centre? That should be okay for sightseeing. As for airport, it's only about 10 km away, so a taxi shouldn't be that expensive.

I did 45 min in advance last time. But I could have missed it.

If you ahve a car, I'd avise to sleep more in the countryside.

In 2013, I stayed at the Park Inn by Radisson, which I see on a map is a little closer to the train station. I still managed to walk into the center just fine, but I am used to doing that. I wouldn't be afraid of the buses, though. I took them a few times because I had a day pass, which covered buses and trains for the ENTIRE COUNTRY! (OK, it's a small country.) But I was down the hill in the Grund neighborhood (a trendy area) and took the bus to save me hiking up hill with my camera gear.

The walk from the Park Inn to the center was only about 15 minutes each way as I recall. Probably about the same from the Novotel. Use Google Maps to find walking directions. However, you don't necessarily have to go to the center of Luxembourg City. There's not a whole lot to see - a few nice buildings, a couple of little squares as I recall. And there are restaurants everywhere. I ate dinner near my hotel.
