Where to see a Flamenco show in Seville ?
IŽll be in Seville for two nights next week. IŽd like to see an authentic Flamenco performance in a not expensive place.
Suggestions ?

So would I! Except for years when they have the Bienial de Flamenco September & October, I don't think you will find such a place. Let us know if you do!

We went to the Arenal, which is a small, somewhat expensive and touristy dinner club. However the show was amazing. I heard thru several locals that the Arenal attracts the best Flamenco talent.
There is also the Carbonera, which is a very hidden away tavern where local flamenco artists hang out and perform. We went there, and it was great fun, but by midnight the performers were just starting to drift in, and we were too beat to wait for the show to begin.

Another vote for Casa de la Memoria. We were there 3 weeks ago. Small venue that only holds 50 people or so. U shaped, so everybody can see. One dancer, one singer & one guitarist. Performance is one hour long for 12 Euro. Buy your tickets earlier in the day for performances at 9:30 & 10. Arrive 45 minutes before showtime & you can have front row seats. It was great.

i believe the casa de memoria times are 8 and 10:30. or 8:30 and ten. the early show sells out fast so do this first thing you get there.
but anyway.. they have a different show every night so you could actually go twice if you want to.

Yeah, I'm confused. I thought I better checked my "Live from Sevilla" thread that I wrote the day after the show. Here's what I wrote:
"Shows at 9 and 10:30. We bought tickets at 5 for the 10:30 show. They tell you to arrive a half hour early, but arrive 45 minutes and get in line."
And yes, they have different shows every night. An English woman in line was there for her second night in a row because she enjoyed it so much the night before.

I second the vote for Los Gallos - http://www.tablaolosgallos.com/. We booked beforehand. It was amazing. The venue was small and intimate. Hence the show was electric! They let you take photos but not videos. Be warned, drinks are expensive - Pepsi 4E, Beer 4E. Do not miss flamenco in Andulucia, particularly Seville where it is apparently the most authentic.
We had dinner beforehand at the Restaurante La Cueva - www.restaurante lacueva.net. This is in picturesque Plaza De Dona Elvira. It is just near Los Gallos. Both are located in the lovely historical barrio Santa Cruz.
OK it's a bit of a costly night. We are normally budget travellers but we are so glad we splashed out a little. It was magic, the highlight of our trip. Trust me you will not be disappointed.

We loved the performance at "Los Gallos". We got our tickets early in the day and then just walked right in that evening. The price covers one drink which you can nurse without waiters coming and bothering you to reorder, but they second one will be expensive. The show was well worth the money!

And another vote for Casa de La Memoria.
You don't pay for that 'drink'. The show is about an hour long and you sit right up with the performers.
We stayed at Casa de la Juderia and it's a 3 minute walk. Straight out the laneway and veer a bit to the right and ahead.
Definitely a show worth seeing.

We went to Casa Anselma in Triana. They don't open until midnight, but it was definitely authentic. In fact, I'd say my wife and I were one of 5 other people that were tourists. The rest were locals. There's no cover charge, so you only pay for drinks.

Casa de La Memoria...Just went there 2 wks ago. A vote for me. 12 euros or 10 for students.
You can get a list of shows from the tourist office with times & prices. Most of them were 30 euros+, with a drink or something.
Too bad I didn't get to go the Carbonera, or the other local places. It was hard to stay awake at those late hours after full day of walking around.

I went last year in March and they even permited photos, flash photos to be taken at the last set of the performance.
