Where to purchase a SIM Card Duesseldorf

We purchased new unlocked GSM quad-band phones. Will take them with us to Europe. Where in Duesseldorf will be the best place to buy a pre-paid SIM card for it?

Should we buy any particular brand?

Look for debitel-light. I saw them at MediaMarkt yesterday for 7€ including 10€ calling credit. With a german address you'll get those for free! They work on E-Plus, calls are 16ct/min to all German Networks. So calls to the US would be about 18ct/min using calling cards. There are many other alternatives too! Tchibo would be interesting!!

O.K so enter your name and the name of the hotel you want the card mailed to here:
http://www.mp-success.com/mpa/wm/000...r=computerbild
The code under "Gratis-Gutscheincode" is CBX346891LA. The card will be mailed to the hotel for free in the next 10 days.
You'll get a free German SIM, 10€ to spent, no strings attached! 16ct to any German phone. Please say thanks!

The code is vaild until the end of this month. So everybody who can provide a german address can get a SIM card for free. The card comes activated and ready to use. If not recharged it may be decativated after 6 months.
Have fun in Germany

Now this is the latest offer:
http://www.pennymobil.de/

If you actually want to pay for a prepay SIM card. This works on the T-Mobile Network (900 Mhz), best coverage possible. The card costs 15€, 5€ calling credit included. Credit is valid for one year. You can buy SIM and topup vouchers at any "Penny" grocery store. Calls to any German phone are 15ct/min. If you buy two cards you can reach the other card for 5ct/min. Incoming roaming outside of Germany is more expensive (79ct/ almost worldwide). Now wait until prices drop further, can't be long!

You're welcome Mine came just a few days later, hope it doesn't take too long since it's the last few days of the offer. But anyway, the SIM is free!

Schlecker-Mobil (smobil) would be interesting too.

http://www.schlecker.com/smobil.htm

cost 14.99€, 10€ calling credit, 15ct/min
Two cards can call eachother for 1ct/min.

Available at your local Schlecker Store, next to a pile of diapers ;-)

Well, another nice thing today. T-Mobile is giving away "free" phones. Two prepay phones max. per person including 5€ calling credit at any "T-Punkt". There are two pones a Nokia 1600 and a Motorola, priced at 49.90€ and 29.90€ For each phone, you'll be credited 50€ on your "Happy Digits" card. (Still anybody who hasn't one?). So buying the Motorola phone, you'll get the phone plus +20€ on your bank account, no further obligations. Unfortunately only 2 phones per person...

Any current special offers out there? I'm looking for a SIM card for Germany in the next week or so.

No free cards right now afaik. If you're looking for cheap roaming www.che-mobil.de is a good offer. Roaming is 10ct incoming all over Europe. Prices per minute to German landlines for other cards are between 14 to 16ct right now, depending on the card. http://friends.vistream.de/ are offering a new card on e-plus that has 10ct/min to German landlines.

This is good, if you use a calling card to dial to the US. http://www.jamobil.de/

Calls to German phones are 15ct/min. Big advantage is that you can get the recharge cards at REWE supermarkets. There are plenty! The card uses the T-Mobile network, so coverage can't get any better, however roaming outside of Germany insn't cheap!

From January REWE are also taking credit cards, not only german EC/Maesto cards as before. They explicitly claim to accept them even if you "only buy a pack of chewing gum". I'll try that on a Saturday morning.
