where to go in between hallstatt and prague?
Dear all,
I will be going to hallstatt from salzburg and will head to prague. However in between hallstatt and prague,i still have 2 more days to plan for other activities. What is the best and convenient places to go in these 2 days before head up to prague?
Thank you!

Karlovy Vary is practically over on the NW border near Germany, it isn't between Hallstatt and Prague (or Linz and Prague) in any usual way of driving.
You'd be going up through Ceske Budejovice, I suspect, then up through Tabor to Prague. YOu could visit Ceske Budejovice, or Cesky Krumlov not too far to the west of there, that would be most convenient. Trebon is also not far off that main route. I just visited Tabor a couple months ago, it's a nice small town, also, with a fantastic museum on Jan Hus and the Hussites. I also highly recommend Hluboka castle to the north of Cesky Budejovice http://www.zamek-hluboka.eu/

Oops - I meant Cesky Krumlov and thought of Karlovy Vary - my mistake and I was recommending CKrumlov as being about half way to Prague.
Trebon is rarely mentioned but as Christina says it is very nice - I was there long ago with my mum because her father was born there and even under the throes of communism Trebon and its large town square was nice - must shine a lot more now.

If your goal is not to split up the Hallstatt to Prague long train or road trip then look at the fantastic Austrian Lake District (a k a Sound of Music Country) between Hallsatt and Salzburg - stay in a lovely lakeside town like St Wolfgang - take boat rides or the train up to a mountain top.
Or Salzburg could be a neat few days - one of the most gorgeous cities in Europe and small enough to manage in a few days.
