Where to go between Manchester and London
Heading to England for 2.5 weeks in May. Staying several days with friends in Manchester. Was going to go to Cardiff and because I was so close, Tenby. Can't find enough that's interesting in Cardiff so I'm looking for places to visit between Manchester and London. Bath sounds great and want to go there. Where else should I go. Don't have transportation so I'll be taking the bus or trains. Also spending a couple of days in Brighton. I'd love everyone's suggestions. Thanks!

Royal LeAmington Spa. I used to go there very week with my grandparents to buy cakes from the Leamington Fancy Bakery. [yes, that was what it was really called].
but good ideas, Sparkchaser. Also Kenilworth Castle, with its recently restored gardens is worth a look.
You could stay in Warwick [nice county town] and explore the lovely countryside too.

Sadly, you no longer see the places between Manchester and London if you go by bus.
50 years ago, you did, and the route - at least the bit through Shropshire, Stratford, the North Cotswolds, Oxford and the Chilterns - was close to delightful. Today, it's a straight dash (if you're lucky) down the motorways - occasionally with a stop in Central Milton Keynes, but mostly with just a single comfort stop at Hilton Park services.
The scenery's actually better by train.

It really depends on what type of traveler you are, I will suggest to you to go to Blackpool while you are in Manchester, on a sunny day, the beach will be extraordinary! Also, explore Lake District, it would be difficult without a car but see if you could go there by public transport. Along the route it mostly just nice country-side. You will definitely enjoy in Brighton, I miss that city!
