Where to find Paris Opera performance tickets

Other than the obvious, the Paris Opéra itself. I was put in charge of getting the tickets because my friend was not going to have access to her computer. So yesterday the tickets for the performance we want to see at Garnier on 31.01.2009 went on sale. I assumed (foolish me) that when I got up at 7:30 a.m. here in Switzerland that I could go on the website and buy the tickets. They were already gone. The highest ticket sold for 85€ and I have since found them on re-sellers from 300€ to 375€ each.

Does anyone know of anyplace else to get them?

Did you try calling? Sometimes phone and web have different availability. It doesn't hurt to try. I think that any third-party tickets must be more expensive than what you can buy directly from the source.

I tried to get tickets on the web for a ballet performance on 30th December but none were available on line.Telephoned Paris Garnier and spoke to an Engish speaking operator who fixed me up for two tickets for 20 euros each for which I was very pleased. The seats were not together.Different ticket quotas for web, telephone and in person.
Good luck.

I have an account with them, and I was just able to buy two tickets to that performance with no problem. I didn't go through with it, obviously, but they gave me two seats in the balcon section for 85 euro each with no problem. I didn't try cheaper tickets. Maybe you tried too early.

Christina, when did you try? Because in both English and French I got the message that there were no more tickets available. Hey, I'll buy them off you if you get them! But I will try calling tomorrow.

I got the message just before I posted that note, I read your message, then tried to see what happened, and everything worked fine.

I'll try again, I just assumed you needed two seats.

You can't call until Dec. 8th or so, there is a message online that ticket sales by phone aren't open yet.

I just tried again and got two more seats, but there are hardly any left. I had a lot more choices around noon, and now there are only two seats left at 85 euro, and they are not side by side any more. They are loge seats. There are no seats left less than 85 euro, and there were around noon.

There are only two tickets left online for this performance.

Those two seats that are left are very good seats, also, but they aren't together -- premiere loge de cote, no. 22 (place 1) and no. 26 (place 2). Those seats are in the front of the box.

Hope you had some luck in getting your tickets, beaupeep. I would kill to see the POB do Bolero.

Has anyone heard anything about who's been cast? Nothing's up on the website yet.

Hi Apres Londee

I just bought two tickets for the Bolero at 85 euro each on the Palais Garnier website.

They went on sale last night, and I waited until this evening to buy them. I was going to go for the next price down, about 65 I think, but there was only 1 seat left at that price.

I haven't come across any information about casting, but as I've never seen the company, it probably wouldn't mean anything to me if I did.

I am quite excited about this. The entire trip was planned around this night at the ballet. Of course, the deeply discounted FF tickets helped a lot.

Hi tuscan! That sounds wonderful- I am soooo jealous! The male corpse in Bolero will be incredible, seeing them alone is worth the trip. You will have a fabulous time!

And I can now answer my own question, at least partially- Nicholas le Riche is doing the lead (and it's not his first time, he did Bolero a couple of years ago I think)

I still don't know about second cast, but I hope it's a woman. Wouldn't it be cool to see two performances, one male and one female?

I've had yesterday marked on my calendar for weeks, because I know it was the day tickets went on sale, and I've been scouring the web regularly for cheap airfare in February, but I haven't had much luck so far. I'm really tempted to just buy a plane ticket regardless...

I kept trying and trying but every time nothing appears for sale. I am going to try calling. Maurice Béjart was my neighbor, two buildings away so I have been to lots of performances here in Lausanne but they haven't done Bolero here since I've lived here.

This show is obviously a very hot ticket. I just went on the POB booking site and this is what I found:

~Jan 31, Feb 6, 7, 13, & 14 are all sold out (no more tickets available on-line, at least)

~Feb 4th only has 20 euro seats left

~Feb 9th only has 85 euro seats left

~Feb 12th doesn't have any more 85 euro seats left

When I checked this morning there were still cheap tickets for the 6th, but now they are gone.

~Feb 2, 10, & 11 have seats at all price ranges still available.

I'm in agony. I found a flight for $766 but it's hard to buy it at that price when I got $550 for April last year. I'm hoping a cheaper flight comes up sometime before xmas...but at this rate Bolero might totally sell out before then!
