Where to find christening gowns in Italy

We're going to be in Venice and Bologna in October and I thought it would be really special to buy our bambino to be's christening gown while we're there. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we could find them?
Thanks alot!

Swalter,
Yes....in Venice at the foot of the Rialto Bridge....on the San Marco side. Located on the Rio Del Ferro.
In fact I have a photo of the window...full of christening gowns.
If you want me to e-mail you a jpeg?

If you are prepared to make a major investment, you might want to hop over to Florence to Loretta Caponi (www.lorettacaponi.com).

In Venice, there is a fine linens shop behind San Marco called Jesurum (www.jesurum.it). Judging from the Web site, they do not carry christening gowns.

Go to Burano.
They have lots of shops selling lace, and I'm pretty sure that I saw christening gowns there.
The shops vary from very touristy and tasteless to tasteful and exquisite.

I bought a christening outfit for my grandson on Burano. They had several shops selling them, and we bought matching shoes and hat.

Burano was on our list to visit before but it's at the top now. Thanks all.

I don't know if it happens all the time, but we saw old ladies making lace in the Burano Lace Museum all chattering away nineteen to the dozen.
They must have wonderful eyesight because the stitches are minuscule.

Since the header DOES say "in Italy", I'll add this reply - - more for others reading this who might have destinations different from yours.

I was with a friend in Bellagio, where she selected a nice christening gown from a selection of a dozen or more. I'm sorry that I do not know the name, but it was a shop more down at lake level, than "up the hill(s)".

Best wishes,

Rex
