Orvieto has a good jazz festival annually at New Year's. I went with some friends two years ago and had a great time.
Praia da Rocha, Algarve, Portugal!
A gorgeous beach with a great atmosphere that knows how to start the New Year in style!

OK - your other thread says you'll be in Paris for New Years. Are you thinking of going somewhere else from Paris?
Just about every country in Europe has New Years celebrations - from fun local festivities, to major world-famous festivals.
Well we are heading to Paris this year for NYE.
Janisj - just exploring my options. I've been to Paris several times but my friend has not. So trying to decide between a new locale or experiencing Paris in wintertime.
"just exploring my options." Well - your options are just about limitless. Where do you want to go? Wherever it is there will be New Years celebrations. Edinburgh - definitely (and amazing). Paris - yep. Munich, Vienna, Prague, Venice, Barcelona, Amsterdam - all of those and just about every other city will have NY parties/festivities.
janisj - Of course, every city, in every country, on every continent will have a NYE celebration. So let me rephrase: What are some *favorite* NYE Euro vacations...
Thank you to the other posters who provided interesting recommendations which I'll start researching further.
