where to buy coral jewelry in Sicily
I would like to get presents for friends from Sicily. I heard that they have pretty coral bracelets, etc. there. Can anyone recommend a place either in Palermo or Erice? (preferable not a super-touristy place) Thanks.

Bettyo70, you might want to reconsider your gift idea, which seems to be a violation of the Lacey Act. Coral is protected in most countries and Customs could put you in handcuffs if you try to bring it into the US.

Thats strange. In Sardinia coral jewelry was a major tourist attaction. Every tourist shop and almost every store had coral jewelry to offer. I find it strange that it would be illegal. Obviously in Italy it must not be. I never bought any because I thought it was tacky and I never understood why they would be allowed to destroy their own natural treasures for a few bucks.
