Where stay 1 night in Paris?

We will be flying out of CDG and will only have 1 night in Paris. Should we stay near the airport or go into the city? Our flight leaves at 1:30 p.m. and we don't want to pay more than $600 for a room.

Stay in the centre of Paris not the airport.

Many options under $600 a night. We're staying at the Novotel Les Halles in November for less than $300 a night. It's very close to RER train to airport, very convenient.

You will have plenty of hotel options well within your budget!

There are well over a thousand hotels in Paris, and most of them charge less than $600 a night for a room. If you want to see some of Paris, there is no problem staying in the city with your schedule. Of course, you will then have to figure out how to get to the airport (with your budget, obviously a taxi would do) so that is another 50 euro or so. I'd suggest you leave your hotel around 9:30 am to plan arriving 3 hrs ahead of flight time. IF you are just tired of traveling and don't want to do anything, it is easy to stay at the airport.

Thanks to yall for your replies. I hope that I didn't sound snooty. Hubby has never been to Paris and I thought we would splurge for that 1 night. However, some hotels I looked at were in the $1000+ range so I figured $600 would be ok. Love the site and your advice!

Hi J,

>we don't want to pay more than $600 for a room. ,

If you send me $300, I will be happy to tell you where you can stay for no more than $100.

What are you looking for?

As your flight leaves on the afternoon, it would be better to stay within Paris to enjoy it.
Saint Michel area is a good location as there is the RER train that brings you directly to the airport. I know the Grand Hotel Saint Michel that should fit your budget.

For that money you could have a suite at the Madison, Millesime or d'Aubusson. They are are well located for transpot services and restaurants

Hello!
the hotel des Champs Elysees http://www.champselysees-paris-hotel.com/ is located a few minutes walk from the Champs Elysees Avenue. This is a beautiful 4 star hotel. The rooms are spacious and really well decorated. Plus, there is a special "balneo" room, with a balneo bathtub!
The hotel Moliere http://www.hotel-moliere.fr/ is located in the 1st arrondissement, close to the Louvre. It's a very nice area! The hotel is really nice! This is a 3 star, with huge superior rooms. The decoration is sophisticated, very frenchie

Hope it helped !

Stay at the airport. That way you won't have to shlep your luggage both ways, and you won't have to worry about getting a cab and traffic to the airport.

Free info: Get a good (4*) hotel at CDG for less than $100 at Priceline (name your own price).

jwj, to make your journey to the airport the next day as easy as possible, you really want to be staying in a hotel within walking distance of an RER B station, which narrows the field. also, you won't want to be walking long distances to get where you want to be [ie the centre] so IMHO the gard du nord and luxembourg are out.

therefore IMHO you need a hotel near either chatelet les Halles [right bank of the seine] or St. Michel notre dame [left bank]. we have the same problem [just 2 nights] and have ended up booking here:

we're going in Jan, so if you can leave booking til then, i can tell you what it was like!

Hotel le Notre Dame is across the street from the RER B station to CDG. Looking out your window, you can watch sun rising over Notre Dame, the Seine,etc.. No need to worry about traffic to CDG

I suggest any place on the RER B line near the river -- less time wasted to/from CDG, and more time seeing Paris.

Also, since you only have a day, I would look for a place where the RER B intersects the #1 Metro line (right bank) or the C RER line (left bank). Easy transport to the Louvre (right bank) or Eiffel Tower & Orsay (left bank).

$600 is a LOT of money for one night, so you pretty much can have your pick of hotels. (We're cheap, so we've always stayed in the Marais at hotels in the $150-160 range -- lately on the west edge of it within a ten-minute walk to the #1 and B lines. Also walking distance to Notre Dame.

With that budget, could also stay on Ile St Louis, and be walking distance to RER B line station on Ile de la Cite.

Look at Hotel Lutece, Hotel Deux Iles or maybe even Hotel Jeu de Paume.

Michel_Paris...

Is there an RER B stop on Ile de la Cite? I didn't think so -- but the St-Michel/Notre Dame stop is close, too...does it have a entry/exit on the Ile?

Stay at the Relais St. Germain and you can dine at Le Comptoir. I believe it will set you back about 225 Euros for one night. The rooms are nicely decorated, the location (a block from Rue St. Germain) is ideal for strolling, and you can get a good Left Bank taste of Paris. The casual restaurant (tables held for hotel guests) has great food at very reasonable prices; perhaps not as earth-shattering as when it came on the scene a few years back, but still good. You can book a ride direct to the hotel (and back) on one of the many van services for 20 odd euros each way. Staying at the airport is a bad idea unless you arrive late and leave early the next day, and you have plenty of time. Airport hotels have limited character and certainly don't give you a neighborhood in which to wander.

ssander,
yes. I was educated on that one recently. The St Michel RER has an exit on Ile de la Cite, near Notre Dame (between it and the Police building). As you exit, you could see the front of ND.

Hi
Usually when I go to Paris I stay in very nice house close to center. People who rent rooms are very nice and very helpful. And they advice us what to see what to visit.

They rent at very good rate.

Rooms are cosy. You can contact them at : [email protected]

Do not stay at the Hilton at the CDG airport (Roissy). If you choose to stay there be very careful about your booking. I booked a reservation with this hotel and there was nothing during the reservation process or at confirmation that indicated it was a prepaid reservation, only that I had to enter credit card information to guarantee the room as is standard. However, I was immediately charged to my credit card. When my plans changed and I needed to cancel and change the reservation to a different hotel, they refused to refund the charge or transfer them to the other hotel. If I had knowingly booked an advance pay reservation, I would completely understand, but this is a scam and emails to the manager and request for a copy of the invoice/folio were ignored.
