Where is a good place to watch Final game of FIFA World Cup in Paris?
Does any one know where there is a good place to watch the World Cup final in Paris that is not too crowded, has a large screen and an actual place to sit comfortably and enjoy. We are landing in Paris on July 11 and probably staying somewhere in the 5th or 6th. Any suggestions?

There will undoubtedly be many places which will fulfill your requirements. When I was in Germany in 2009, there were a zillion outdoor restaurants with a huge screen. I assume the same will be true for Paris.

If France is in the final of the World Cup you can bet every bar with a TV screen will be packed with squeeze room only!
I know there is a sports bar up on Place de La Contrescarpe(top of rue Cardinal Lemoine) but it's not very big.
I'm sure I have read in the last few days while researching for my Paris trip in July that the restaurant/bar Le Royal Villiers has made it's premises the home for French Rugby, sporting large screen TV's to carry the action to the patrons.
Whether they will screen the Soccer World Cup final is anyones guess - I think they will. Here is a link:

A bit out of your area but very easy to get to. With so many cafe`s with the same names there may even be another Royal Villiers?

Try the Highlander, Rue de Nevers on the left bank side of the Pont Neuf. Good screens and surrounded by people who actually like football. And it's English speaking if you need a break from French.

On a similar line try the Fog et Rosbif in Chatelet les Halles. It's an "English Pub" (my arse) but it has screens and will show all the footie.
Obviously if the French are playing, everywhere will be rammed.

IF the French are playing, capital letters intended, there might be outdoor venues set up with huge screens. I've never done that for footie but think it would be great fun--might even be BYOB, which would save a lot.

Just found this......
A reader recommends the Auld Alliance Pub at 80, rue François Miron in the 4th arrondissement (01 48 04 30 40, metro Saint-Paul). "It's not a hot spot, but kind of a quiet refuge if you are tired of speaking French or if you like football. Auld Alliance is generally a Rangers pub, and gets a great crowd for Scotland games. Football is a great way to get into European 'culture.'"

Auld Alliance is ok but I prefer the Highlander, really interesting mix of people. Last time I was in I was chatting with a French librarian who was the spitting image of Elvis Costello and a French Canadian surgeon with a penchant for copious amounts of malt whisky. But like the Highlander the Auld Alliance will probably make a big deal of the World Cup Finals.
