I just checked out the Slovenia tourism website (http://www.slovenia-tourism.si/?lng=2&id_country=38) and came up with the following:
"Bohinj is a valley that stretches from Soteska to Ukanc. On the south side, it is enclosed by the Lower Bohinj Mountains, which rise to 2.000 meters, and on the north by the Triglav mountain range with Mount Triglav, Slovenia`s highest mountain (2864 m). "

Did it three weeks ago from Lake Bled. It was raining, but I still enjoyed it. Lots of thick forests on the way. We passed a train station, where an antique train ran. It was Hemingway country and went into the soca valley. I would have liked to have done that train trip.

Bohinj is about 30 minutes NW (ish) from Bled. Drive to Bled and follow the signs. There is a beautiful, clean lake there surrounded by mountains. The town itself is nothing special. What makes it special is the nature around it. You can do a very short hike to the waterfall which is the starting point of the Sava. You can ride the gondola up to the top at Vogel (IIRC) and do some very nice hiking, eating at the gostilnas. There is a trail that goes around the lake. Very nice and peaceful, except in high season when it is covered in Slovenes trying to beat the heat.
It is very nice, but Soca is better...if you have to choose.
