where in London to stay
I have asked this question on a recent posting, but think since there are other subjects being discussed in the same posting that it may have been overlooked?
Anyway, I would love your advice for where to stay in London. We are a family of five and will be in London for 5 nights. I am looking at apartments located in Kensington, Chelsea, and Westminster-- are these the best located places? We want to be close to tourist attractions, in a safe neighborhood and close to the tube. Let me know what you think. Is there elsewhere that I should look?
Also I have made inquiries via vrbo. Are there other (better) web sites for apartments in London?
Thank you.
Jeanne

Lots of good options for you here...

Kensington area for me usually most cost effective stuff
in a decent location...

The Collingham Serviced Apartments are pretty luxurious (and priced accordingly $$$$!). Good location though - I wouldn't go any further west. It's definitely on the high end. It has all the services of a hotel. In addition to the upscale furnishings, large rooms, etc. you're also paying for Porter Service, Concierge Service, and Receptionist. If your budget is $700USD a night for a 3BR, it's not a bad choice.

Have you tried looking at www.airbnb.com? I used them when booking a private apartment in Manhattan and was really happy with the experience. Generally, found the prices to be cheaper than VRBO too.

qwovadis, looks likethere aren't any 3 bedrooms available, just 2 bedrooms. Andfrom the site, it looks like there is a max of 4 in the 2 bedrooms... bardo, I couldn't see the price for a 3 bedroom one, but the 2 bedrooms were 320 a night....

One cannot make any claim re AirBnB vs vrbo. They are both sites where one works directly w/ individual owners. Neither is a rental agency and are more "CraigsList-type" want ads.
I'd personally go w/ vrbo if those were my only two options (longer track record and more insurance against fraud/problems). But in either case -- you need to know London pretty well before booking because many owners take license when describing their location. (By passing your possibles here we can tell you the pros/cons of the locations and any other 'issues')
There are also many good agencies in London, at most price points.
Before anyone can give you useful advice/recommendations we need to know your budget.
