And the ticket office in Siena is underground below the bus stop in Piazza Gramsci.

The bus stop in Florence is not obvious even though it is right next to the SMN train station because it is tucked inside a city block with the entrance facing away from the SMN train station. You have to turn corners to see the entrance to the bus station.

The Sita bus drops you off and leaves from the same stop. It is a stones throw from the medieval section of Siena.

Thanks for your replies. Do you know if I get the bus to Florence airport in the same place as the bus from Siena drops you off. Also is there a taxi stand at the SMN train station?

There's a "Vola in bus" (Volainbus) service from SITA that goes from SMN which will take around 20mins and costs Euro5 pp. It leaves from one specific section right next to the other SITA buses on the side of SMN. Otherwise, the taxi rank is located right outside the station, on the main street. You'll see it as you walk out of the main entrance/exit. A taxi to the airport from the station will be around Euro15-20.

There are multiple bus areas around the train station of Florence. Some are for city buses while others are for private bus companies. Just ask someone depending on which bus you are trying to catch.

For the Sita bus, inside the station, with the trains to your back, you would exit the station on your right side, cross the street (towards Hotel Ambasciatori) and head left down the sidewalk and it will shortly round a corner. The bus entrance is in the middle of these buildings with a parking lot tucked inside a bit. If you look at Google maps for Florence train station, you can easily see bus parking area on the satellite view. It's big and behind the hotel.

I'm going to add the instructions Annhig gave to me. The bus station is so close to the train station, but a little tricky to find. Kybourbon gave good instructions, too, but with these added, it might make it easier.

Now I think we might try to find that Florence bus station after all.>>

nothing easier, once you know where it is!

with your back to the SMN railway station, turn to the right and walk about 100 yards. it's across a little road on your right. the ticket office is at the back on the left.

here's link to the map. you'll see that you have to find the via santa caterina di siena - it will take you longer to say it than it does to find it!

http://maps.google.com/

once you get to siena, you exit the bus and walk straight ahead/slightly to the right up a little incline - follow the crowd and you'll find the centre is about 5 mins walk away. the bus back to Florence goes from exactly the same place.
