Where do I pass through immigration in the UK

Jump to last reply

I am trying to buy a flight ticket for my boyfriend to visit me in the UK from Lao. He needs to fly in to London and then on to Manchester or Newcastle. I hope to get the same connecting flight to help him, as his English is not great. What I need to know is will he clear immigration and have his visa checked in London or at the final destination. Last time he visited I was flying with him and it was much easier as he struggled with the questions. I cannot remember whether we went through immigration in London or Newcastle.
I need to know whether it is best for me to wait for him as he passes immigration at London or if he will get straight through and I can meet him at the gate of the connecting flight and help him get through immigration at the final destination (Newcastle or Manchester). It is so complicated!!!
