Where do I buy a bottle of Scotch to bring home?

Hi, where is the best place to buy a bottle of scotch in London? Last time I bought some bottles at the Duty Free Store at the airport. Thank you for the replies.

Michael,
I am a Scotch drinker, and my favorite single malt is Highland Park. I was in the Orkney islands, where it is made, and it was no less expensive than it is at my neighborhood liquor store! I even priced it at the duty free at Gatwick, and the miniscule savings was not worth having to lug it all the way back to Dallas. And with all the restrictions on hand luggage these days, i save my precious luggage space for things I really cannot get anywhere else.

Unless you are buying a special bottle that is only sold at the distillery or a special reserve that is not exported and is unlikely to be at the duty free shop, I'd leave it till I got to the airport to avoid lugging it around with me. The cost diference between the retailer and duty free is minimal so I wouldn't let that influence my decision when it came to toting it around.

Often the duty free will be running promotions and you can get an even better price than expected. Since the duty frees are inside the secure area you won't have to worry about security checks. I've never had any trouble carring a dutyfree purchase in addition to my carryon luggage.

If you are feeling really lazy and don't want some exotic brand, you can even purchase it on the plane.

I'd also suggest the airport unless you are going to France for a short trip - whisky is cheaper there than in Scotland because the tax is less.

I fell in love with a 10 year old single malt from Ben Nevis. Bought two bottles to bring home at $30 each. Cheapest price I have found in California is $85. Wish I had bought more.
